Lauren Walker is a Level 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Exercise Specialist. She worked in Phase 3 (early cardiac Rehab with the NHS) for 10 years and has been qualified since 2005 in Phase 4 (exercise for life). She is also a qualified Pilates, Gym and Circuits Instructor.

Strength & Balance - It's A Challenge!
Using weights is an important part of this class so have your selection ready. I use the medium to the very heavy ones the most but you can still participate and not use weights as well.
Almost every exercise will have 8 repetitions and it challenges your balance as you do them on one side and then the other (you may need a chair nearby). I make you use similar muscle groups after each other so you will be increasing the strength in them as you go.
Perform the exercises slowly with very good technique. It is really important that you breathe and do not hold your breath, try not to over-grip the weights and in between the exercises keep your feet moving. You will find your heart rate increases after you have finished the exercise so ensure you do not stand still.
You may want to repeat the class another time if you used too light a weight ... it should be hard to complete all 8 repetitions.

30-Minute Non-Stop - Make It Dancy!
I encourage you to forget about technique in the class and try and make the exercises more dancy than normal. Wiggle those hips and allow the arms to move in all directions with as much freedom as you can! You may just want to complete the class as normal which is perfectly fine!
I do not use weights but you can if you want to add a bit of resistance to your moves and it is a non-stop class so there are no beaks.
Even the warm-up is more dancy and lasts 10 minutes before moving straight into the exercise section and finishing with a 10-minute cool-down.

Pyramid - Just The One
There is just one Pyramid consisting of 8 exercises in this class. If you do not have enough time to complete the whole class, go all the way to the top and then skip to the cool-down.
I hold my medium weights throughout the whole class to add a bit of resistance to the exercises - this is optional.
Expect to get to around RPE 12-13 (unless you choose to jump around and make it more cardiovascular) and keep going so it is more of a stamina/endurance class.

Non-Stop Exercise - Achieve A Constant Heart Rate
This class has a shorter warm-up as I merge it into the start of the class and so we gradually build up the intensity during the first main exercise of the session.
Our feet will be moving constantly and I will get you to change from one exercise to the other straight away so there are no breaks.
The exercise component is longer than some other classes and I encourage you to find the right speed, exercise option and intensity for you for each exercise so you can maintain RPE 13 throughout the whole class.
If you would like to hold weights for some of the exercises you can but I do not demonstrate this.

Mini-Circuit - Just Cardio
If you want to do a circuit but have very little free time, then this class is perfect.
Perform 6 exercises for 30 seconds each, 3 times with little rest in between each exercise.
There is a shorter warm-up so you may need to do a quick walk first to help prepare your body for the class or use the first circuit as part of the warm-up.
I do not hold any weights, but you can if you wish, otherwise have a great cardio workout.

Combinations - Coordination Required
This class will test your ability to link exercises together into a combination which moves your arms and legs in different directions. Although I may not be specific in whether you need to move your right or left arm or leg, I will get you to think about how you link the exercises together so a bit of coordination is required.
For some of the exercises I will be working at the speed of the music which may be too fast for some of you, so just continue to repeat the exercises at your own speed.

All Intensity Levels - Angles
You will start with a non-stop cardiovascular exercise section before moving on to the Angles section. If you need to have breaks between the exercises in the non-stop part I advise you when to take them.
We will be moving our arms and legs on the angle for the remainder of the class and I encourage you to hold weights when doing the upper body exercises.
Do as many repetitions as you can and as soon as you feel your arms start to drop or you cannot straighten your arms any more, stop the exercise, move your feet and wait for us to finish and join in with the next exercise. Performing fewer good-quality movements is better than struggling to keep going with bad technique.
