For Anyone Who Is Wondering Why I Have Not Been Active Lately:

At the moment, I’m struggling with my mental health. Over the last year, I’ve been run down and very depressed at work. For anyone who doesn’t know, I drive 8 wheel tipper trucks for a large haulage company in Ireland (I’m not going to mention the name of it for obvious reasons). I work and live in the truck from Monday to Friday at the moment. Since February, I’ve been put on a big road project in the middle of nowhere. There’s little to no facilities (toilets, showers, places to eat, etc). To add to this, the people on this job don’t treat me right. The men over the trucks on this project makes me feel I’m the worst driver in the place, despite being with the company longer than most lads (most are locals who joined the job when the project began). Then the machine drivers are roaring and shouting at us all because we might be literally an inch in the wrong place for them to unload rock, muck, chipping, etc. All these contributions has led to me being very low, stressed out and depressed. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety for many years. I get extremely stressed out about silly little things. Since being moved there, I feel sick going to work every Sunday night / Monday morning. I’m always worried what’s going to happen this week. Also, back in May, the doctor told me I may have high blood pressure. This too has been stressing me out as I would fear I could lose my HGV license. I like driving trucks and it’s the only thing I know. The almost two and a half years with the company I’ve been with has been good, apart from this year. In turn, it’s caused me to lose interest in video making and editing. I’m really struggling at the moment. I don’t know when things will get better. I fear it could a long time before things get better. 2024 has been a horrible year for me. Apart from the trips to Glasgow and Manchester, there’s been little to say good that’s happened this year. I’ve been doing the odd bit of filming, but it has been a struggle to get the enthusiasm to do it.

Apologies for being miserable in this festival season, but I feel I had to clarify the situation I’m going through at the moment. Someone has commented on why I’ve been inactive lately.

From Monday 16th December to 3rd January, there will be uploads of lifts from Manchester, England.
I visited there between the 18th and 20th November.

Places Include:
- Manchester Ringways Airport Terminals 1 & 3
- The Trafford Centre
- Manchester City Centre

Unfortunately, there’s many lifts I couldn’t get to due to how busy they were and the vintage lift at Foysyths Music Shop was broken when I went (it seems to be out of order for many months now). I apologise in advance for any disappointment caused.

Just a Heads Up- Kone Ecodisc/ Monospace

I am aware that I am putting in the wrong name / titles for Kone lifts. At the moment, I cannot change titles and information easily. It’s tough to write information down on a phone. I’m trying to get a new laptop but I have more important things to do before I can get one. It might not be until at least next year before I can get one. I could buy a cheap one, but I need a powerful laptop which cost an arm and a leg (ie, they are very expensive) for the things I need it for. Until I can get a new computer to be able to type easily and have better access to YouTube Studio, then I’m afraid it will be a long time before I can make changes. My car and other personal expenses come before buying a new laptop. Sorry about that

UPDATE: Paul Street Shopping Centre Lift Replacement- 3rd August 2024
The first new Schindler isn’t far away from being operational. I had a feeling that they would install centre closing doors on the new lifts. They seem to have removed the call buttons for some reason. So after nearly 9 months, one of three of the new Schindler lifts is nearly complete. The two Pickerings lifts still there are both operating normally and in perfect working order.

Also, Update on the replacement of the Kone M Series lifts at North Main Street Shopping Centre:
The middle lift which has already been removed has had no further work done. The left lift is still out of order. Only the right lift is operational but it’s sounds a bit off. I suppose nobody is maintaining it to keep it in good order. It’s running smoothly but it’s making more unusual noises compared to the last time I was in it.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT PARK (I REPEAT) DO NOT PARK at Cheeverstown LUAS Park and Ride near Citywest, West Dublin

I parked here and paid €1 for a 4 hour ticket and went for a walk for just over an hour (because I’m working in Dublin at the moment) on Tuesday July 16th 2024. I came back to find my car along with the car next to mine being broken into. They smashed the small window of passenger side rear door, unlocked it and basically trashed the car. Everything was all over the place. Luckily nothing was stolen (as far as I know), but this will cost money to repair the window that was smashed. I strongly advise everyone who drives a car NOT to park here and if possible, park in an enclosed car park with full security (like the Tallaght Cross West P&R). This isn’t fully safe either, but at least there is more cameras and security guards on full duty on site. I’m sure many Dubliners already know the reputation of these Park and Ride car parks, but for the likes of me who is a born and bred country man, it’s no harm in knowing if anyone coming up from the country is wanting to avoid parking in the city centre of Dublin and wants to take public transport in. Dundrum or Tallaght Park and Rides are your best option.

UPDATE: 13th July 2024- Paul Street Shopping Centre Lifts- They have the first call button on all the landings installed. At least it’s Schindler’s own parts and not generic parts. Also, they seem to have moved the indicators from the original locations. They must have been built into the frames of the lift doors. Also, the new call buttons are a bit lower down that the Pickerings ones. The first lift should be ready soon (I think?)

This is a picture of our dog at home. It’s one of those pictures that was just taken at the right moment. I think I took this last year or early this year. I can’t remember.

ONLY IN RURAL IRELAND

An unusual sight of a John Deer tractor parked up at Portarlington Train Station, Co.Laois at 11.15pm last night (Saturday 15th June). My thoughts are that either a young lad that still has his learner permit (around 16 or 17) has driven to the train station to go off somewhere on the train or it’s a farmer who went into the pub across the road from the station.

For those who don’t know, there are certain places in Ireland where students from secondary school that have a learners permit for driving a car (or if they are 16, they can drive a tractor only) drive tractors into school from home. There was even a news story about two lads from Co.Cork having to drive their parents tractors from their farm yards into school as there was no room on the school bus for them.

UPDATE: Paul Street Shopping Centre Lift Replacements- Saturday 8th June 2024

The cab and cables (belts by the looks of it) are in place. They have shaft doors on the 3rd floor put in (not sure if they are going to have the same two speed door arrangement as the Pickerings ones or whether they will have centre closing doors.

Still a bit to go, but the longer it takes the better (in my opinion).
