Can I be honest? The holidays used to overwhelm me. All the expectations, all the roles we slip into without noticing, the pressure to make everything perfect, or peaceful, or magical for everyone else.

This year, I’m approaching today differently. I’m letting it be what it is. Messy. Beautiful. Emotional. Human.

I’m grateful for the people at my table.
I’m grateful for the ones I miss deeply.
I’m grateful for the parts of myself I’m still learning how to love.
And I’m grateful for you—this community that chooses to grow, heal, and do the inner work right alongside me.

If today is wonderful, I’m celebrating with you.
If today is hard, I’m sending love to that part of you that’s just trying to get through the day.

You don’t have to be “on.”
You don’t have to be cheerful every second.
You don’t have to carry everything.

Just take one breath.
And then another.
And give yourself permission to be human.

29 years married, and somehow it just keeps getting sweeter. ❤️

Graham got me the most beautiful roses to mark the day, and we celebrated with a little getaway to @thehorseshoefarm in Hendersonville. Horses, chickens, mountain air, homemade focaccia, slow strolls, long hikes—my whole system exhaled.

After nearly three decades together, what I treasure most is the ease.

The way we move through the world as a team.
The comfort. The laughter.
The deep, quiet knowing that we’re safe with each other.

Marriage isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence.

It’s about choosing compassion over ego, curiosity over assumption, and tending to the connection even when life gets noisy.

Here’s to 29 years with my favorite human. And here’s to whatever beauty the next chapter brings.

Tell me: How long have you and your person been together, or what’s one thing you love about partnership? 🫂

A year from now… who will you be?

I’ve learned that the most meaningful change doesn’t come from big leaps.

It comes from the quiet, consistent moments when we sit with ourselves, listen inward, and choose a truer path.

That’s why I created the 52-Week Adult Chair Journal: a year of gentle prompts that guide you back to yourself, one week at a time.

A year of clarity. A year of truth. A year of becoming.

If you’re ready to meet the version of you who’s waiting on the other side of this year, this journal will get you there.

✨ Now available on Amazon. www.amazon.com/Adult-Chair-Week-Journal-Transforma…

P.S. I know from experience that this journal makes for a great holiday gift too… 🎁

You know those years that feel like five years rolled into one? The ones that hold everything – the joy, the heartbreak, the surprise, the surrender. This was one of those years.

From launching The Adult Chair book to speaking at multiple transformational events, to quiet days at home that stretched me in ways I didn’t expect… it’s been a rollercoaster of learning, gratitude, and letting go.

There were moments that brought me to tears—some from laughter, some from fear, and some from sheer awe at what it means to be alive.

(And yes, there was that infamous dental mishap. Let’s just say life has a sense of humor.)

But through it all, one truth keeps coming back to me:

Peace isn’t found in the perfect moments.

It’s found in the messy, unpredictable, fully human ones, when you choose to stay connected to yourself, no matter what’s happening around you.

This year cracked me open in all the best ways.

It reminded me that gratitude isn’t something we chase; it’s what we find when we stop resisting what is.

I’m so grateful for my family, for my community, and for every single one of you walking this path with me.

Here’s to another year of growth, grace, and staying grounded, even when life gets wild. 🎂🎁🎉🥳

When life feels uncomfortable – anxious, overwhelming, uncertain – your body sends signals long before your mind catches up. Most of us were taught to shut those signals down, power through, “stay positive,”and pretend we’re fine. Or doomscroll and pour another drink.

But avoiding discomfort doesn’t bring peace; it just disconnects you from yourself.

The truth is, healing starts when you learn how to stay with what’s uncomfortable, not run from it.

How do you respond when discomfort shows up? And what would a healthier response look like?

Journaling is one of the best tools I’ve ever found for getting unstuck in life. And I’m not the only one.

Every year during the 30-Day Journaling Challenge, it blows my mind to hear the stories of transformation that happen just through writing—and to see this community sharing with each other, encouraging each other, and having “aha” moments together. 💗

Like John, who said, “What I uncovered, discovered, and experienced can’t be put into words—it was just incredible.”

Or Elizabeth: “It’s like every prompt was written especially for me. I don’t know how she does it, but it was transformational for me and the best way to clean slate and start the new year off right.”

And lastly, Patty, who said it so simply but powerfully: “I never knew so much healing could happen simply through writing.” ✍️

This year’s challenge starts in just TWO days, so, if you haven’t signed up yet, now is the time to do so and get in on all this goodness!

When does the challenge take place? The 30-Day Journaling Challenge takes place November 1-November 30. When you sign up, I’ll send a free journal prompt straight to your inbox each day in November.

How much time does it take each day? I recommend setting aside 15-30 minutes each day to journal. Don’t think you have it? That means you need this more than ever! You will come to crave that much-deserved “you time” before the 30 days are over.

What are the benefits of journaling? There are so, so many, but some of the most profound ones are:

✔️ Getting to know yourself better
✔️ Uncovering and healing old wounds
✔️ Processing emotions
✔️ Getting clarity and direction
✔️ Connecting with your true self
✔️ Creating a new habit of regular self-discovery
✔️ Living with more peace, happiness, and purpose every day

How often do you let yourself be fully present?

I'm going to let you in on a little "secret" of mine: there is MAGIC in the present moment. Here's what I mean 👇

Living with presence allows us to experience the profound beauty of each moment, unlocking the aliveness that often goes unnoticed.

By delving into the present, we awaken to our true selves and connect with the ultimate joy that resides in the here and now.

Embracing presence invites a sense of calm and wonder, turning ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences.

So, just for today, I invite you to try a super simple practice: SINGLE-TASKING.

Choose just ONE task to focus on at a time, whether it’s eating, walking, or working. Allow yourself to fully engage with that single activity without distractions.

Try it, then come back and let me know how it goes!

Allow this practice to guide you into a deeper connection with your true self and experience the joy that arises from being fully in the moment.

PS: In The Academy of Awakening, there are four MORE amazing practices to help you embrace presence this month, as well as a list of affirmations to assist with keeping you in the moment.

Plus, we're sharing our experiences and reflections in the Academy Facebook group, so join us before the month is over! Let’s support each other in this journey of awakening: theacademyofawakening.com
