Grief is a deep emotional response to loss. It can manifest as sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, and loneliness.
Everyone’s grief is unique, but it often feels like a profound sadness that’s hard to escape.
Types of grief include the loss of a loved one, loss of an animal, empty nest syndrome when the kids are all out of the house, loss of a relationship or divorce, aging and health decline, or even being fired from a job.
Grief doesn’t always come from death; it can arise from any significant loss.
So, how do we tend to ourselves when we are in grief?
💔 Allow yourself to feel 👥 Seek support from loved ones or a therapist / counselor 💤 Practice self-care: eat well, get enough sleep, move gently ⌛ Give yourself time—grief isn’t linear 💐 Create rituals or memorials to honor the loss and find closure
And how do we offer our support when someone we know or love is grieving?
We can acknowledge their loss, hold space for their pain, and ask how you can help, even if it’s just listening. (Pro tip? Avoid trying to “fix” their grief.)
Grief a journey that we all experience in our own way, and it can be overwhelming.

A friend recently asked me this when she was struggling to assert her needs at work and with friends. My answer? Absolutely not.
We all have the right to speak up for what we want and need.
But here’s the thing—if you feel guilty or hesitant, it’s probably because your boundary isn’t fully embodied.
A boundary isn’t just a mental note; it has to come from deep within you.
When my friend asked if she was being too harsh by setting boundaries, I told her: "People won’t hear you if your boundary is just in your head. It has to be in your body, fully aligned with your truth."
When you speak from this place, you don’t need to raise your voice or get angry.
You simply state your truth with confidence and clarity.
And guess what? People listen. They respect you, and they don’t push back.
Next time you need to set a boundary, take a breath. Drop into your body, get clear on what you need, and then speak up. You’ll be amazed at the shift it creates.
