We´re making changes to NMS.
Providing the public with access to reliable information is more important than ever. *How* that information is presented is crucial.
Content that is more technical is my default tendency (cuz I´m a huge nerd lol). Deep dives covering 20 studies on a given question are some of my favorite videos and those I´m proudest of.
But at the end of the day the content is for you, not me.
I have learned over time (thanks largely to your feedback) that that type of content isn't interesting or helpful for everyone. We end up selecting for viewers with some scientific training or analytical minds who already research and fact-check. In other words, those who need the least help.
The holy grail is to provide accurate information while being watchable by (almost) anyone. This is what's direly missing on social media and why I started the channel in the first place. Very difficult to do but worth the effort.
We're experimenting with different formats and letting you choose, rather than me deciding what people need or want.
The conclusions are determined by the science so they can't follow viewer preference. But how the information is communicated can.
The content of the package is out of my hands but the wrapping isn't.
What to expect during this experimentation phase:
- Different format videos. Don't worry! We will continue to do deep dives when needed. Some topics require it. But we'll also release shorter videos summarizing topics in more actionable terms.
- Different thumbnails, formats and editing styles. Nothing´s final. It's all learning. Your feedback is always welcome.
- More content (at least for now we´ve been publishing more often to accelerate our learning)
Change is always scary. Some experiments will flop. Others will succeed. Hopefully the end result will be net improvement.
Thank you for your support!

We've been working on a video on Methylene Blue, after getting many Qs about it.
It's been tested in many studies for many diseases, so I´ll probably break this up into several shorter, more focused videos, rather than one 40min video. As far as order of release, which of the following are you most interested in:
1 - Effect on Alzheimers
2 - Effect on infectious disease (malaria, sepsis, COVID, candida etc)
3 - Effect on memory in healthy people (nootropic)
4 - Effect on psychiatric conditions (depression, anxiety, psychosis, PTSD etc)

It's an unfortunate reality of social media that most nutrition podcasts are dedicated to a specific diet and choose their guests very carefully to toe that line. This creates a bubble for viewers where it seems the whole world agrees their favorite diet is best.
We´ve always strived to create a different platform, bringing on the top researchers in the world in each field, whichever diet they eat or recommend, and even inviting guests with heterodox views across the spectrum to host challenging discussions on controversial topics.
I was recently invited to go on a podcast that historically centered on carnivore topics and guests. This was a stark deviation from their habitual programming. Several colleagues advised me not to do it for fear of tribalism or disinterest in data. I did it anyway. I have zero regrets.
For an hour we discussed the recent KETO-CTA study (the controversial study looking at plaque in people on ketogenic diets with very high cholesterol) with no sugar coating.
I respect the host for his courage to bring on someone that may be perceived by his viewers as an "outsider" and potentially exposing them to very different ideas and data.
Full interview linked below. Check it out and please give the host some love if you agree with me that this is a brave step forward.

We're about to cross 300k subs so I thought we could do an AMA.
Basically ask anything you want below and the most voted comments will be answered in a video. It can be about the channel, me, science or anything you like.
I´d also love for people who are NOT fans of the channel to contribute some Qs. Makes it more interesting than a love fest. So don't pull punches, if you have harsh criticisms, disagreements, or just questions in general about how we do things here at NMS this is the best time to hit me with it!!!
looking forward!!

Many of you asked me to go over the recent keto/heart disease (aka LMHR) study that created a ruckus on social media.
I wanted to wait til the dust settles and emotions aren't running so high (this is why I suck at virality lol...) but I´ll weigh in soon. I´ve gone over the data carefully and many other studies in the field for context and I have many thoughts that I have not seen covered anywhere yet. Stay tuned.
In the meantime here are 3 high quality & objective break downs of the study:

t.co/OH3OOVaiKs by Alex Leaf MS (Nutrition)
t.co/KC70r1XM0F by Nicola Guess RD PhD
Also I recommend checking out our latest video on best exercise practices for lifespan & healthspan ft Brad Stanfield and Physionic!! Place your bet on things that have stood the test of time!!!

We're working on new formats to bring you the best information on health & medicine.
One idea is to go over topics of controversy together with @Physionic & @DrBradStanfield
We have different professional backgrounds so finding out where we agree/disagree might make things clearer.
Let me know below your #1 topic of interest in health, fitness or medicine. What do you find interesting and/or confusing and would like to see covered?
The most popular topic(s) will be featured.
