I got the green light to talk about this, so I'm doing it. I'm terrible at keeping secrets and we could all use a little good news these days... ⠀

I'm writing a book! I pitched it two weeks ago, I signed the deal last week, and I am already head first into writing and recipe testing. ⠀

To be honest, this was not at all what I thought would be on my plate this year! I had all kinds of plans for tons of live workshops. And I've been so sad that doesn't look like it is coming back very soon. ⠀

It's funny how things happen when they're supposed to happen. I have had this book concept rolling around in my head for years. I've always said "I'll probably write it someday. I could always self-publish it when I'm ready." But I've never been in a hurry. So when I got the opportunity to pitch it to someone, I thought "Why not? Just see what happens." ⠀

I wrote a 20 page proposal in a day. It literally just spilled out of me. It's exactly the book I want to write. ⠀
I have been teaching baking techniques and approachable baking science online for almost 9 years. It’s a wonderful medium to connect with people from all over the world. But it is a more difficult way to guide a new baker (or an experienced baker who is just eager to learn more) through a wide range of topics sequentially. And that is what I aim to do with this book. ⠀

It won't be coming out until late 2021, which I know feels far away. But I want you to come on this journey with me. You are the reason I have this opportunity. I can't wait to share the finished product with you!

Hi all! The May live bake-along is this Sunday, May 17th at 1:00 PM CT. By popular request we are making American style Blueberry scones! If you don't want a whole batch of fresh scones on hand, I'll be showing you how you can freeze them raw to bake fresh when you want them!

Hi friends! I just want to pop in and say hello and let you know that I hope you are all staying well. I'm in Chicago, and we have been put on lock down- rightly so. I really haven't left the house or a week, except to go for walks to get some fresh air.


I've struggled to figure out how I can keep creating content that is helpful during this time. And I realized that baking is definitely what helps me stay sane. So I will keep creating videos that are hopefully things you might be wanting/needing to bake during this time. Mostly bread recipes and easy recipes.


I have a lengthy sourdough video coming out later today. Then I'll be publishing some easier stuff later this week. Let me know how you are doing in the comments!
