Plan Your Perfect Day

Schedule your ideal 10/10 day. I see too many people say they’re just “being realistic” but using that as an excuse to not challenge themselves.

Whenever I set a “realistic” routine that doesn’t challenge me, I don’t even do it cuz it’s not even fun. If I know I can do 2 hours of work, it’s not challenging nor do i think i will get much gains.

But if I know I can SOMETIMES do 4 hours of work and that’s my limit. When I schedule that for tomorrow I actually wanna wake up early and get to it. Imagine if tomorrow you scheduled your PEAK day. Not just the most productivity and work done but also the most fun. You’d actually wanna get out of bed and get to it.

So schedule WORK, PLAY and REST.

My ideal day is wake up at 7am, work till 12. That’s 4/5 hours of deep work.

Then learning and chilling in the afternoon. Then 3 hour workout at night, 6-9.

That’s a super packed day for me. Even just the 5 hours of work might be too much for some people.

But that’s what makes it fun. That’s what makes me want to get up and do it.

And noticed how I said “plan the perfect day” not “plan the most productive day”

this is because if I just wanted to be as productive as possible and get as much work done as possible, my entire day would literally just be “Wake up. Work. Eat. Work. Eat. Work. Eat. Sleep.”

That is not very sustainable, nor very fun and so plan the perfect day the one that you actually wanna keep on living every single day with the work and the fund that you wanna have, and obviously you still have to include obligations like school.

So your actions that is to plan your perfect 10 out of 10 day where you know you’re actually challenging yourself and you’re pushing yourself to your maximum.

Maybe usually you can only work two hours, but you know on your best days you can work four or five whenever you get into the zone.

Don’t write 2 just write four or five.

And then along with this you also have to reset your expectations and don’t expect to hit your perfect day every single day. Sometimes you will fall short. Usually it will stop after three hours of work and not hit the total five.

But understand that that is okay, because even if you hit 60% of your perfect day, that is still better than most of the days that you’ve had in your life.

Write it out below. What’s your 10/10 ideal perfect day (challenging work, fun, and rest included.)

Heard this quote today:

“Work Smart Not Hard” only works if you’re competing against dumb people. If you’re competing against smart people, everyone’s working smart - So hard work is all you’ve got left.

How a journal revealed to me the secret of happiness:

I was going through some old papers and books in my room. They’ve been in these boxes for years and I thought it was time for some spring cleaning.

So I took out the papers and the books and started organising them. Then I saw something…

It was a blue gratitude journal from about one or two years ago that I just never continued, and when I opened it, one of the first things that I saw was “Hit 139 subs today!!!”

And that made me realise that there was a time that something so simple could make me so happy, but now that I get more success, every single day it no longer feels like anything.

So keep a record somewhere of your wins. Journal it. Take photos. Keep an archive.

One day you’ll look back and not only realise how far you’ve come (cliché ahh quote) but also realise that you can still be happy about those same small wins even now. (less chiché part)

Like legit if i was happy for every 139 subs i got, I’d look like I’m high on drugs 24/7 365.

I simply got used to it and acclimated as everyone does.

What’s something you used to be super happy about but just got used to it? If there was a time that you could be super happy about it - now can also be that time. It’s literally all just a choice.

Tbh, i think that’s the key to infinite happiness.

Only Suffer Once

These 3 words have shaped my life a lot over the past while, in small and big moments.

There are 2 types of suffering. There is the REAL suffering, which occurs in the real world. Something occurs which causes us pain. The bus could skip your stop, you could drop your drink or your family could get run over by a drunk driver going at 69 miles per hour in a school zone - take your pick.

That’s the real suffering. You don’t have much control over it.

But then, after that, we choose whether we suffer or not. So the bus skips your stop and you can either get mad at that (thus suffering a second time) or you could just sit and wait for the next bus.

And so the question I ask myself is “What is the utility of suffering a second time?” And usually there is none. Being mad at the bus won’t cause the bus driver to back up and open the doors for you like you’re Thor pulling back your hammer magically to your command.

And so if you can’t change it - you may as well not suffer again. This is so much more realistic than what a lot of self improvement people say which is “Duuuude everything is in ur MIND. Just be zen and meditate. Pain is an emotion so if you can control your emotions, you can choose to not feel it.”

Which on paper is true but unless you’re a monk that has meditated for 50 years… It’s not practical at all. Yes I know suffering is technically all in your mind - but knowing that won’t stop me from suffering for the rest of my life.

I think trying to avoid suffering is impossible. But trying to only suffer once… that’s a balanced way forward.

And this is absolutely game changing. Every single time something happens, just say “I’m only gonna suffer once.” And leave it at that. I feel the buildup of annoyance gather in my chest… then once I say those magical words, I feel it physically go back down and disappear.

So today, just try it once. When you experience something unpleasant - Say those words. Only suffer once.

Feeling purposeful is when what you think, want, do and say are all aligned.
If you're feeling directionless - ask yourself "Is your life aligned?"

Starting self-improvement feels pointless, working hard but see no change by the end of the day. It's the definiton of insanity...

But I was solving my Rubik’s Cube and realised, I scramble it just to solve it. At the end of the day, nothing changed. It started and ends solved. The real win is in the skill you quietly build. That's self improvement.

We think it's impossible to change ourselves, but we're the only people we can change.
We always wanna change others, but they're the only people you have no control over.

People follow good examples - So be one.

"Just show up" doesn't work [after a certain point]

Here's a question - How many hours a day do you type?

I type more than most people do. In school, I'm typing. At home, I'm writing YouTube videos. But interestingly enough, my typing speed has never increased. It's always been about 100-110 wpm. Why?

Because 'just show up' isn't enough. It can get you to a certain point but afterwards, you stop improving. If it were true then I would consistently get faster and faster and SO WOULD YOU - But it doesn't work like that even though you type every single day.

If 'just show up' were true then some random 60 year old accountant who's typed his whole life would have the world's fastest typing speed but no.

He can show up everyday but it's not about that. You need to actually put in specific time and attention, do typing tests everyday and look at your words per minute and try to get it higher. What inspired this post is actually one of my students in my coaching who is learning how to type faster and he shares his typing test results every once in a while.

10 minutes of deliberate challenge > 1 hour of mindless repetition [aka showing up]

So if you are not making progress in life, ask yourself this. Are you GENUINELY testing yourself or just showing up?

“Should I leave my friend?”

I got asked this yesterday in a coaching call and it’s pretty common.

You’re going on a different path and your friends aren’t growing so you’re considering leaving the group.

The issue is you’re not sure. Then the copes start coming in:

“He’s my friend!! But he has no goals… He’s on self improvement!! But he plays video games for 6hrs/day...”

It’s a battle of pros and cons.

Here’s the simple way to look at it:

The fact you even have to ask “Should I leave?” is already a red flag. If you had the 10/10 friend - it would never even be a question. You would never want to leave them.

If you need to justify or make excuses or have this back and forth of “Should i keep them or should I not” whilst picking petals off a flower - It shows that they’re already doing stuff you dislike. They’re already incompatible.

All that’s happening now is your brain coming up with reasons to stay but it’s a LOT like quitting an addiction.

You do the addiction for a long time.

You think about quitting it.

But your brain keeps convincing you to play another game, scroll another time or take another hit of the drug.

Your brain will come up with excuses.

Similarly, you’re with the friend for a long time.

You think about moving on.

Your brain comes up with excuses to stay. It’s the same thing.

So if your brain is coming up with a whole ass pros and cons list of your friend - take a second and step back.

Sometimes you can’t trust your brain. But all we know for sure is… You’re doubting the friendship. I’ve seen people grapple with it for months, overthinking and overanalysing everything… Then they eventually leave.

Well if you KNOW at some point you’re gonna outgrow them - You may as well rip the bandaid off now and save yourself those months of wasted time and energy.

The moment you feel yourself doubting the friendship - Take that as a first sign something is wrong.

Just remember this:

If there’s doubt, there’s no doubt.

I think this statement is crazy.

I see a lot of people say “I hate routine, it’s so boring I can’t imagine doing the same thing everyday.” and maybe you believe this.

I think people don’t hate routines - They just hate THEIR routine. Their routine is filled with activities they dislike.

Once you fix your routine - You start to love it. Don’t bash routine, bash the bad routine you’ve gotten yourself into.

It’s kinda like eating pineapple on pizza and saying “I hate pizza” - It’s not that you hate ALL pizza. That one isn’t for you.

But most people have lived the same 3 month cycle for years. They haven’t had a solid routine - they just repeat the same things over and over and stay stuck. That’s why they think they hate routine.

Moral of the story, try more pizzas cya mwah
