Hey there! We're Hali & Calum, movement educators passionate about helping people move better and feel stronger.

Our story began with Hali's personal journey through spinal rehabilitation after a car accident. This experience sparked our deep dive into understanding how the body moves, heals, and grows stronger. Now, we love sharing what we've learned with others.

Since 2014, we've coached amazing people, both in person and online, helping them overcome movement challenges and reach their goals. We believe everyone deserves to move freely and confidently, whether you're recovering from injury or aiming to enhance your performance.

What we share:

- Practical mobility techniques you can use right away
- Strength training that complements your mobility work & vice versa
- Step-by-step movement progressions + follow alongs
- Tips for pain-free movement

In 2019 we created the CPD Mobility Certification & in 2023 we released the CPD Strength & Mobility Certification.

This past week or so we have had wildfires right, left & center, literally ON our street 😐

The heatwave caused our vehicles to have battery issues & we both have been sick for different reasons.

Safe to say we didn’t sleep for 4 days or recover well this week & we are definitely delayed on our work schedule.

‪@THEGYMNASTMETHOD‬ has been amazing supporting our coaching business as always - we wouldn’t be team FMF without her & you can always count on one of our team to be on duty because of our set up ❤️

Appreciate the support & work everyone puts in to make this team run ❤️

That’s our little update 🤓

Thank you all for being here & for being patient with us too!

What is Mobility Training? 🤔 Read & Share 👇

Mobility Training relates to training methods that increase the RANGE & STRENGTH OF A JOINTS FUNCTION 💪🏼

It can be progressed from “unable to move at all” like was the case with Hali after her car accident, all the way to ➡️ advanced range of motion lifts 🏋🏽‍♀️

Mobility Training only be done if the tissues that surround the joints are trained, which can be done via:⬇️

🔸Controlled Articular Rotations (mainly for maintaining joint ROM) - warm up phase
🔸Isometrics to Strengthen end range
🔸Eccentrics
🔸Weighted Full ROM reps (including compound movements)
And more… 🤓

You get the gist…there’s ALOT of ways you can improve and maintain your mobility 🤸🏼‍♂️🏋🏽‍♀️ and what is best for you to do depends on 👇

🔹 Your current ROM (can be tested via joint assessments) 📐
🔹 Previous movement & injury history (& if you did rehab properly after an injury) 🩼🤕
🔹 Your activities day to day 👷‍♂️🕵️‍♀️🏋🏽‍♀️👩🏼‍🏫
🔹 Experience level with training
🔹 Tissue Type (closer to hypo- or hyper- mobile) 🤯 so you’ll slightly change the approach depending on if you’re at an end scale of one of these!!
🔹 Sometimes even temperature 🌡️ of the environment you’re training in & even 👇
🔹 Your stress level & sleep quality 😴 😥
+ Much more…

YouTube suggested this community feature! No idea how it works - much like most of YouTube 😂

We did a Live Q&A over in Instagram yesterday & really we should figure out how to do it on here at the same time!

Any tips on 1. How & 2. What you want us to answer?

‪@GarageGymLifeMedia‬ you once said we need to do this! And we do!

Usually we collect questions in DMs & boxes on IG but please feel free to comment on this or any post & we will screenshot it for the live!

Next one on our instagrams will be next week, most likely WEDNESDAY at 6pm CET, will try to go live here too at that time!

Scapula Mobility & Strength Training = bigger PRs, Less Injuries & Happier Shoulders 👇 Read Why 👇

1️⃣Deadlifts: Scapular retraction creates a stable platform for your lats, which help maximise power transfer through your entire back. (Try initiating the movement with relaxed shoulder blades and that will feel 10x heavier & awful) 😣

2️⃣ Chin-ups:Your shoulder blades initiate the movement by depressing down before your arms even bend. Strong scaps not only support your ability to do these but protect from injury - I should know 🥲🫠 I used to tear muscles all the time on these after my car accident because I had nerve damage down one arm making scapula control SUPER hard to feel 🫠🫠🫠 happy days that’s progressed 💪

3️⃣Single-arm rows: One side working alone exposes imbalances and compensation patterns that bilateral lifts can hide. Your scapula should glide smoothly while staying stable under load. I actually use this lift to strengthen the range I have & it’s taken years to get it here ❤️

Weak or immobile shoulder blades = compromised lifts and injury risk.

Strong, mobile scaps = bigger PRs and bulletproof shoulders.

Train them like your strength depends on it – because it does.

Just do so progressively & gradually 🚨 & remember this isn’t personalised advice just my thoughts & SHORT comments of the day 🚨
