🚨There is a very high correlation with stress levels and connection.
“The right orbito frontal cortex (OPC)
is about maternal bonding. It functions as a primary regulator of the amygdala! Early maternal connection cause the OFC to grow in size in the first few months of life, overlapping the frontal top of the left prefrontal cortex . The cortex has plasticity so even through adversity and trauma, as a child grows, connection and attunement help to mitigate the activation of the amygdala! A poorly developed OFC is correlated with attachment disorder among other challenges creating negative plasticity- the physical malleability of the brain in stress!-Robert Starr M.D

Did you know they the spine plays a crucial role in maintaining posture and protecting our nervous system?
Your posture is an indication of how well you are adapting to stress.
When stress activates it causes our spine to clench in response to perceived threats
Lets dive into this connection and find ways to reduce stress and spine health.
The main culprits
💀Poor Posture
💀Lack of Movement
💀Chronic Stress
💀Trauma of All Forms
💀Inadequate Streching
How to fix it

Unprocessed trauma and habitual stress cycles are truly devestating to the functioning of your brain.
We all suffer from trauma in some way, shape or form.
The image above shows the atrophy/shrinkage that occurs in your brain when excess stress and trauma are not dealt with.
Here are the specifics of what occurs in your brain
1.Hippocampus and Amygdala: Chronic stress and trauma can impact the size and functioning of the hippocampus and amygdala, which are involved in memory formation and emotional regulation. Studies have suggested that prolonged stress may lead to a smaller hippocampus and an overactive amygdala.
2.Prefrontal Cortex: Executive functions, such as planning, logic, and speculation can be negatively affected by chronic stress. Research indicates that chronic stress may impair prefrontal cortex function, leading to difficulties in decision-making, impulse control, and contributing to mental health disorders.
3.Mal-adaptive Neuroplasticity: Chronic stress and trauma can negatively influence neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to reorganize and form new connections. It may disrupt synaptic connections and alter neural circuits, affecting learning, memory, and emotional processing.
If you know of others (and many are now) stuck in a survival habituated state of fear, anger, and frusturation, give them grace. It is not necessarily their fault. Stress rates are seemingly at all time high.

😱Stress is the number one killer. It is said to be responsible for about 90% of all disease and illness.
🧬Excess. stress literally, on a moment to moment basis will down regulate gene sequences, causing your cells to weaken.
With that being said there are two forms of stress.
✅Eu-stress= Positive stress
❌Dis-stress = Negative stress.
Eustress includes positive activities that help you grow, such as reading, studying, exercise, etc…
Distress included negative activities that harm your body, such as gossiping with co-workers, staying up late at night, watching the fearful news, worrying about the future, etc…
👉In the slides are the mechanisms of how your brain and body handle stress and what hormones and chemicals are released.
🦎Remember that our brains first job is to keep us alive, secondly it’s job is to conserve evergy. It does not prioritize, love or joy , if we are in danger, real or imagined!
😳If we do not adapt to the hormones of stress, we move into a semi-permanent state of survival, know as the fight-flight-freeze or faint stage.
🧠In this state blood flow moves away from our pre-frontal cortex causing us to become more impulsive and reactive.
This is problematic because this causes us to become less intelligent, more reactive, impulsive, and even violent.
💀The issue arises, if we stay in this state, the more susceptible we are to illness, trauma , chaos , and even death.
🤯Stress does three primary things to our body.
1. Constricts blood flow in our arteries, moving the blood into our legs and arms, preparing us to move away from danger.
2. Previously mentioned, it moved blood flow from our pre-frontal cortex/conscious, thinking mind, sending it into our survival brain.
3. Turns off our immune system. Making us more sucesptible to illness.
We must learn to adapt to stress at all costs!
Luckily there are many tools and techniques we can use to build our resilence.
