Cu Da is one of the biggest rice noodle producing villages in northern Vietnam. Certain times of the year they make soy sauce as well. I'll say the stacks of noodle were so extraordinary to see in real life - like mounds of grey hay, but noodle. New video out now: https://youtu.be/ybWc7BO5u8A?si=TwTlt...
Happy Têt/ Happy Lunar New Year everyone!! I've been travelling throughout Vietnam and am lucky to be here for lunar new year. Not been the easiest trip, but I do have a lot of footage😂. Anyhow, for those who celebrate happy new year. I know I haven't done the snake buns this year, so maybe when I get back??😜. If anyone has recommendations here please let me know (oh my gosh, Vietnam is soooo big. Trips that I thought would be like 8 hours take more like 16.... insanely long country). It's also the 50-year anniversary of the reunification of the north and south, so a big deal.
This video was so prettily shot. I made a traditional Japanese wheat starch glue for the lantern. The paper was made from mulberry bark, which typically is used for book restoration due to it's sheer and strong nature. The lantern is finished off with tung oil, which was what was used traditionally in paper umbrellas to keep it waterproof. So definitely check it out☺️
Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern video out tomorrow!! I've spent the past few weeks trying to make these as pretty and traditional as possible. Lots of trial and error. Lots of wonky and broken lanterns. The calligraphy is absolute rubbish (I'm so sorry to all calligrapher...I blame the...paint😜). But can't wait to show you all this alternate activity to do as opposed to making mooncakes☺️ Bye for now!
Hungary pics! If you're not normally an East Meets Kitchen travel vlog viewer -- some...maybe even a few people might tell you you're missing out. Links below. A few more to come. Enjoy, stay safe, be kind❤️
I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS COLLABORATION FOR THE LONGEST TIME!! - SINCE I WENT TO TAIWAN EARLIER IN THE YEAR. I've partnered up with Brooklyn (and Taiwan) - based@yunhaishop to bring you the most gorgeous, most iconic name in Asian rice/steam cooking history☺️. For those not familiar, this is the @TATUNGTW steam cooker (in its original, retro-beautiful red and green) that uses a double boiler-type mechanism to cook your rice, soups, stews, etc etc. People on Reddit swear theirs have been in the family for 30...40 years.
I'm going to be filming the review over the next few weeks. It's a magical piece of equipment, but it's hard to describe exactly why (I'm hoping I get the words down for you all😂). If any of you have questions (or maybe comments if you've used one in your family) I would love to hear about it.
