Hello!
I’m Hanbit, professional pastry chef and CEO of Sugar Lane Baking Academy based in Seoul, Korea. Funny enough, my background had nothing to do with baking. I studied mathematics at university and then worked in finance, strategy consulting and IT. Then one day in 2018, I quit my job and enrolled at a pastry school.
As my story suggests, I really enjoy being a pastry chef and I am keen to share the joy of baking with as many people as possible. I'll try my best to include detailed explanations and tips in my recipes so that you will be able to make amazing desserts. I aim to create videos that can be enjoyed by people at all levels - those who bake for fun as well as those who want to get more serious.

I have opened a new shop in Seoul called "Wonder Cookes"
We sell cookies, and only cookies so everyone will love it :) I've spent half a year perfecting the recipe so it's definitely worth a try when you're in Seoul. Please come and say hello! I'm pretty much here all the time.
Several thoughts before I started this new venture:
✔️What item should I sell?
Dessert that everybody loves and is familiar with: COOKIES
✔️Where should I be located?
Somewhere accessible within Seoul, preferrably a popular spot for foreign visitors: BUKCHON
✔️What cookie-style should I adopt?
Something that mixes both Korean and American style. I've gone for 160g big heavy cookies that are less sweet than the average and is fudgy in the middle.
Location-wise we're super accessible as it's in Bukchon area (Bukchon Hanok Village).
📍Wonder Cookies, Seoul, Bukchon-ro 25

500K subscribers!
It's been 3 years since I started posting baking videos on youtube and now I have reached 500k subscribers. Wow, that's half a million.
Really appreciate all the support 🙏 Glad to hear that the videos have been helpful.
Youtube has been an incredible experience. It allowed me to reach lots of people around the world and it has been extremely fun! I managed to pick up lots of technical skills along the way (yes, premiere pro and dealing with cameras) I have been tied up with opening my new shop recently and I will post about that in more detail.
Anyway thanks a bunch! 감사합니다♥️

[New Book: Sugar Lane Cake Class]
Hello everyone! Some of you may already know, but I have released a new book.
It's a recipe book of 37 cakes including Victoria cakes, chocolate cakes, K-style cream cakes, chiffon cakes, crepe cakes, castellas, Swiss rolls, pound cakes etc.
Unfortunately, it's in 100% Korean (yes, again) and currently there's no plan to publish an English version. My team looked into this option when I published my first book but it proved to be a very big project so we decided not to pursue it. I know it seems simple to just translate the Korean version into English but there's more to it than just translating. It won't be handled by my publisher which presents us with a lot of admin.
Anyways, for those who still want to purchase my 2nd book, I am currently selling them via Shopee (link below)
