💡 I love coming back to older concepts and implementing them in a much better way. If you're not embarrassed about your old code that means you haven't grown enough. In this case I made a simple patrol behavior for the enemies and you can add patrol points even during runtime and the enemy will adapt immediately. 👨💻 Get the code for free here: pastebin.com/h2VFM1sP
❤️ Today I want to thank every one of you! I'm truly grateful for everything that's happened since I started the channel and hopefully I can repay you with even more helpful content. Happy Thanksgiving!
With the occasion of Half-Life's 26th anniversary I made a short game design breakdown video. I'll be grateful if you check it out and let me know if you want to see more content like this.
🦇 It's crazy how Batman Arkham Asylum came out 15 years ago, but Croc's Lair still makes me feel tense and scares me! 🎃 I replayed the game just because Halloween was around the corner and here's a couple things I noticed about this section: • Killer Croc is presented as a huge, scary monster from the start of the game. Batman can't match him in a fair fight, which makes the scene a lot scarier. • The music and sound effects create tension and keep you on the edge. • The game makes you sneak around, if you make too much noise you're going to attract Croc. • Croc is hidden underneath the water, you can't predict when he's going to pop up and you only have a limited time to react. If you don't manage to throw a batarang at him in time, he's going to chomp Batman's head off.
📋 Hope you enjoyed this short breakdown. You don't necessarily need top-tier graphics or complex behaviors to create a great game. Game design is the most important factor and it's all about the player's experience. Pay attention to details, add elements that enhance your core experience and remove the ones that don't.
Unity 6 is looking good, and it feels like the company is moving in the right direction! I've been using it for a couple prototypes and it generally feels good, easy to use and pretty smooth (although it still loads pretty slowly 😂).
Here are some of the upcoming improvements & features they announced: ● Improved performance and stability ● Better rendering performance & better visuals ● Enhanced productivity and functionality ● Easier multiplayer integration ● Runtime AI ● Unified URP & HDRP into a single render pipeline (SRP)
Overall, I'm excited and eager to test all the new features. The fact that they cancelled the runtime fee and focused on important features feels like a big step in the right direction. Still, Unity is a publicly traded company and the management has to appease the investors, so don't put all your eggs into the Unity basket and keep learning other engines as well.
I was just browsing YouTube and was pretty surprised I couldn't find tutorial on how to recreate Skyrim combat in Unity ⚔️ If I made this tutorial would you be interested to watch it?

🎯 Focus on the core experience and avoid "filler" features.
