Nearly half of employees don't trust HR - here’s why: (and no, it’s not just because ‘HR is there to protect the company’)
Here’s what the data actually says:
In the UK, a Cezanne HR study of 1k+ employees at large companies found:
- 47% don’t trust HR to resolve conflict
- 48% don’t trust HR to promote fairly
- 45% think HR isn’t impartial
- 43% believe senior staff get special treatment
Across the pond in the US, Zenefits found 38% say HR applies rules unevenly (esp. favouring managers) and 71% of HR reps say less than 30% of complaints lead to any action.
It’s not looking good.
The top cited reasons for the tragic ratings include having unqualified people in HR, punishment for raising issues, and not actually having a proper HR department or contractor AT ALL.
Just their boss or someone from finance in a different jumper.
HR doesn’t have to be seen as a bottleneck or the inbox where whistleblowing goes to the deleted folder.
It starts with trust.
1. Visibility: being seen, not just summoned when sh*t hits the fan.
2. Transparency: being clear about roles and consistent in employee procedures.
That’s why our learners are leading some of the most successful teams across the UK.
It’s a core principle of mine and why we teach CIPD the way we do.

When it comes to online education, always - TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!
I got this amazing message on LinkedIn, and I am so proud of what we have designed and created. However, my most essential message is recommending everyone do our 14-day trial before enrolling.
If you're going to spend £3,000 on CIPD education to improve your career, you deserve to poke around the system, see what you're buying and make sure it connects with you.
It's about setting yourself up for success and making the process as simple and easy as possible for you.
Remember, balancing work, study, and life is tough, so make sure you study with somebody who makes this as easy for you as possible.

Imagine studying and waiting 21 days for a reply 🤯
Not all CIPD training providers are the same.
So imagine you're this learner who is going to come to us and study the CIPD course with us. What is OUR commitment to support compared to this experience?
✅ You will never have to wait more than a single working day for a response from our Learning Support Team
✅ If you're struggling with something and need to put your studies on hold, we have a process for request and approval
✅ ADHD & autism is not an issue for us; you are assigned a single mentor whose role is to collaborate with you to ensure your success by encouraging you and aiding you with study plans.
✅ Support is face-to-face via Google Meet
✅ Your mentor has an open calendar for their students so you can book in support whenever you need never more than 48hour wait for a face-to-face meeting
Is waiting 21 days for a response worth saving an extra £200 or £500? You might find people who offer services a little cheaper from time to time, but you won't find any online provider as committed to working with you; of that, I am certain.

CIPD has reduced the required feedback learners get, but we are not!
Here’s why
We know, from the conversations we have with our learners, that feedback is incredibly important to getting the CIPD qualification you deserve. And further into this article, we will provide academic and ethical reasons too.
Recently, CIPD changed their requirements for the detailed feedback that our learners rely so much on. In fact, now we don’t have to give feedback on any non-failing grade – that’s a mark of a 2 (Low Pass) ,3 (Pass), or 4 (High Pass).
CIPD has given the reason for this as making the process simpler for CIPD centres, but a reduction in detailed feedback all grades except for failing grades allows qualification providers to save money by not spending as much time on each learner’s marking and feedback. HRC believes this is at the expense of the quality and depth of learning.
HRC are keeping detailed feedback for all of their CIPD Qualifications
Here at HRC, we don’t think that’s fair. Not for you, not for the countless learners who benefit and rely on detailed feedback across the sector for their learning and their professional growth. So, here’s what we’re changing.
Nothing.
We are going to keep providing our learners with the same level of feedback we always have, because it’s what’s right, and it’s what’s best. That goes for our CIPD Level 3 and CIPD Level 5.
In our latest article, you will understand more about the transformative nature of detailed feedback

Yesterday, we received an unexpected call from someone interested in enrolling in our CIPD L5 course, I said NO ❌
Here's why
Studying is like a pair of shoes; when you want to go on a hike, you can wear anything you want, but your choices can make it a lot easier or a lot harder.
Imaging climbing a mountain in high heels, for example, instead of a pair of walking boots
When choosing a study provider, it's a bit like choosing hiking footwear: You need to find a pair that makes you feel comfortable going through some challenging terrain. Balancing study, work, social life, and maybe kids can be a really tricky balance, and sometimes it will be tough.
So when the call came in out of the blue asking to enrol, we said no, but we did set them up on a trial of our first unit for the next 14 days. Our trial is the first unit of the actual course, so your progress is saved, so when you KNOW for certain we are the right fit, you can enrol with us.
Other providers may take your money and run, but studying is a big deal for many people, and a failed study attempt can set people back years in their careers. So we won't just take your money and run; we will ensure you're comfortable with our approach before enrolling.

Recently we offered people struggling with CIPD studies some free study coaching to help them succeed in their course.
Part of the agreement was we would record the sessions to create short sessions to help everyone.
