Hello, i dont usually promote like this but I feel like he puts it into words a lot better than I tend to when I get worked up about something.
If i speak on this subject i will probably get really angry and say a lot of irrelevant stuff about how much feces i think certain companies and their lawyers mommies pack in their little lunchboxes for them every day, and thats just honestly not productive, regardless of how accurate and warrented those statements may be.
That being said please go watch this video and give some thought to what could possibly be the intent behind going this far over this issue. If you are a fan of indie video games and smaller studios and dont like seeing the bully stomping out anyone who tries to approach the playground, i implore you to think about who you give your support to and how actions like this impact the entire game industry as a whole. This sets such an unfair precedence, that whoever has the best lawyers gets to just make the rules and decide which art is allowed and which is not. This is like 2 steps short of censorship and its not a good look for nintendo. And its not looking good for developers when we spread the definitions of these terms/concepts so thin just to win a lawsuit. Yikes nintendo.

Idk who needs to hear this but i know you're out there:

Rendering is:
👌 Adding light details (such as stark highlights, colour refraction, shadows)
👌 Post filtering (such as noise, textures, ambient lighting)
👌 Effects (anything that could be considered part of the post production process in a film or animation, such as warping, fisheye, chromatic abberation etc.)

Rendering is not:
💀 The entire shading process (shading that adds form and depth/ basic shading)
💀 The entire painting process (filling in your lineart with colour, or your sketch if you don't use lineart)
💀 The entire process of realizing a sketch (i feel like i shouldnt have to explain this and yet i still see this one being thrown around for some reason)

Reminder that just because you hear a term used online, does not necessarily mean it is being used correctly.
Rendering is a very specific part of the process that refers to post-painting period where you add any details that could be caused by light sources in the scene, natural or unnatural effects that might apply to the "camera" (or field of view in a piece of art), or any number of more nuanced details i am missing. The easiest way to think about it, is that rendering is like post processing / editing for a film or video. Your art should be nearly completed by the time you are actually rendering, and it should always be your final step.

There is an epidemic of review channels, simply allergic to engaging with the property they are reviewing, or at the very least having any connection to an expertise level in the field.
Can we please just go back to people posting videos about their special interests and stop incentivising people to just farm reaction bait despite having nothing worthwhile to say.

Every breath i take. Every move i make.
Silksong.
I cannot escape it. It plagues me. Mention of this game has somehow seeped into the very recesses of my skull and every corner i turn, SILKSONG. everywhere. Incessantly scrawled on every comment section of every platform. Its inescapable.
I dont understand the biblical hype surrounding this game. You all treat it like the 2nd coming of jesus or something. Get a grip. Calm down. It is a platformer, not the cure for cancer. Yes it was in development hell for 7 years. That happens with games. Turns out they take a while to make. For anyone unaware about how game development works and needs to hear this: 7 years is a long, but normal length of time to work on developing a game. We don't need to sacrifice our firstborn to manifest the release of this game. I implore you if you plan to buy this game please just be a normal person about it. My opinion of this game has quickly snowballed from "i dont know what this is" to "christ please if i hear the words silk or song one more time i am going to start seeing the shadow people again" within the last month and i am losing my marbles. I would probably be able to have a normal neutral opinion and move on with my day but everywhere i look "SILKSONG SILKSONG SILKSONG" ITS ENOUGH TO MAKE ONE MAD. :)))))))))
I am going to have psychotic breakdown and blow a gasket become a vegetable. I feel like im having trouble managing my hallucinations and i am seeing silksong everywhere. Its fucking everywhere lois. Its in my raccoon wounds.

Imagine having a mentor. Crazy privilege level there. Imagine having a safe adult that cares about your well being. Nuts. Imagine being able to trust an adult for any reason. Imagine what kind of life you'd have to have to be able to have that.
Its crazy to me how much people take that for granted. I see people with loving parents who take advantage of their kindness. People with teachers that wanted to see them succeed and thrive that do nothing with their lives. Family members who treat them like an individual with wants and dreams and their own thoughts. People who only want to see them succeed. And they squander that.
What i would have given up to have 1 supportive adult in my life growing up. 1 person i could put my trust in and have it actually not be a naive stupid thing to do. 1 person that didn't give up on me just for being "not enough".
Its recently been expressed to me that my worldview is very much formed by the fact that I have never had putting my trust in an adult go anything but poorly at best, and at worst the reason I'm still in therapy. I want to learn how to be able to trust people and be able to put my faith into trustworthy people who are actually good people.
But holy cow man. People are more selfish now than they've ever been. People are so shitty dude. Im trying my best to pursue self improvement but I feel like I keep getting the wool pulled over me by manipulative and covert people. Its so easy to be fooled these days. People have gotten so good at hiding their narcissism.
I guess what im trying tk say is...
Hey guys please don't fall for people that pretend to be your ally or have your back. Always keep safe, and pay attention. Dont let yourself be manipulated. If someone has to twist your criticism to make themselves look like they arent actually wrong, thats a big red flag. If you stand up for yourself and someone is deflecting and turning it into an accusation on them, thats a big red flag.
You can go through trauma without going through your joker arc. I think gen Z may have forgot this.
Therapy exists. Maybe like...idk utilize it.
