I had a widow maker heart attack on the evening of September 14 of 2024 and the next morning had a quadruple heart bypass surgery. No one really gave me any diet help after surgery. My primary doctor, after seeing my A1c go up on a mostly plant based , very low fat diet in the months following my heart surgery , told me, cut the carbs.
I went on a low-carb diet for 4 1/2 months and found that my joint pain increased and I wasn’t losing weight after the first little bit and just stayed pretty much the same 4 pound range most of the four + months I was on the diet.
I’ve decided to fine tune my diet, add in a few limited carbs but continue to cut sugar and grains, I am gluten sensitive, add in more vegetables, a little bit of berries, and a little bit of lentils and beans and quinoa. I now eat lean chicken, fish, and pasture raised eggs .
