Any Twin Peaks fans here? I got to visit the iconic Twede’s Cafe and the Great Northern Hotel from the show this week during my trip to the PWN. Pretty freakin rad to see these places in real life!

A Friday night at the arcade is always good for the soul of an 80s kid!

True story: there’s an arcade in my town run by some eccentric rich guy who bought a warehouse in the industrial district and turned it into the absolute sickest arcade full of all your favorite classic arcade games, all perfectly restored, never any “out of order signs” anywhere, and best of all… they’re all FREE!!! That’s right, unlimited tries in any game. They also have a ton of vintage pinball machines which do cost money, but literally all the arcade style games are completely free. I love heading down there on a Friday night and just soaking up the nostalgia and trying my hand at a few of my old favorites like Castlevania or Double Dragon.

I remember riding my bike to the mall with the pockets on my cargo shorts swinging, heavy with quarters, headed to the Tilt arcade at the mall to spend all the change I’d saved trying to beat the TMNT arcade game. So it’s so cool to be able to go to my local arcade and play that exact game for free anytime I want. And don’t get me started on all the other rad perfectly restored classic machines they have. What a treat!! I’m telling you guys, this place is absolutely bonkers and I know you’d think I was making it up if I didn’t have the pics! 🕹️👾🎮

What are the chances I park next to this thing the same week I release my Ghostbusters Halloween video? Kinda cool! Anyone have any idea what the purpose of this vehicle is?

🎨✨ I thought it would be cool to share some of the paintings I’ve made over the years. One of my favorite channels, @ridetrackx recently suggested I make a post about how Chill City FM came to be—and this felt like as good a post as any to do that. All of these paintings were made with spray paint and a bunch of painstakingly hand cut stencils.

I’ve always been a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none. My background is in fine art—I did my undergrad in painting with a side passion for street art, and later earned a master’s degree in Special Education (severe to profound). Along the way I dabbled in music production, releasing beats under the name smoov beats, all while keeping that aspiration of being a painter alive.

Truth is, I never quite caught the right wave at the right time to make a career out of visual arts. Special education, though, emerged as a true calling for me. And through my work as a teacher, I was introduced to the world of lofi/ambient videos on YouTube—something widely known in the special education community as an incredible therapy tool for kids with sensory issues (and honestly, for adults too).

One day, while watching one of those videos, I thought out loud: “I think I can make these.” That was the spark. I realized I could combine my art background with some of the amazing AI tools available to create my own worlds and immersive experiences. At first my videos were simple and experimental, but over time I’ve found my footing.

Chill City FM has become my creative outlet—a place where I can share my obsession with retro nostalgia culture with all the kindred spirits out there. My main goal is always the same: to capture that indescribable essence of nostalgia, creating images and soundscapes that feel both real and dreamlike.

Thanks for being here on this journey—it means more than you know. 🙏

🎉 Thank You for 10K! 🎉 I honestly don’t have the words to fully express how grateful I am right now. When I started Chill City FM, I just wanted to create a little corner of the internet where people could slow down, breathe, and get lost in music and scenes that felt like home. I said to myself from the start that I just wanted to have fun making content that I think is super rad and that my audience, if any, would just be anyone who vibes with what I make and put out there. Little did I know it would become such a great creative outlet for me to share my obsession with retro nostalgia. Receiving all the positive feedback and seeing this community grow to over 10,000 subscribers is something I honestly never imagined.

I put a lot of creative energy, feeling, personal memories, and meaning into the nuanced scenes I create. So every view, every comment and shared memory, every moment we’ve spent here means more to me than I can say. You’ve turned what started as a small passion project into something I truly look forward to creating for each and every one of you.

From the bottom of my heart—thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to more music, more nostalgia, and more memories frozen in time.

As many of you know I am a teacher and recently ended my summer break, but I will do my best to continue my tradition of releasing a new video every Friday. I’ve got something extra special planned for this weekend to celebrate 10k and have been cooking up so many rad new videos that I’m so excited to share with you all! Stay tuned!

Stay rad and be excellent to each other,
Rad McFly
