🎨✨ I thought it would be cool to share some of the paintings I’ve made over the years. One of my favorite channels, @ridetrackx recently suggested I make a post about how Chill City FM came to be—and this felt like as good a post as any to do that. All of these paintings were made with spray paint and a bunch of painstakingly hand cut stencils.
I’ve always been a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none. My background is in fine art—I did my undergrad in painting with a side passion for street art, and later earned a master’s degree in Special Education (severe to profound). Along the way I dabbled in music production, releasing beats under the name smoov beats, all while keeping that aspiration of being a painter alive.
Truth is, I never quite caught the right wave at the right time to make a career out of visual arts. Special education, though, emerged as a true calling for me. And through my work as a teacher, I was introduced to the world of lofi/ambient videos on YouTube—something widely known in the special education community as an incredible therapy tool for kids with sensory issues (and honestly, for adults too).
One day, while watching one of those videos, I thought out loud: “I think I can make these.” That was the spark. I realized I could combine my art background with some of the amazing AI tools available to create my own worlds and immersive experiences. At first my videos were simple and experimental, but over time I’ve found my footing.
Chill City FM has become my creative outlet—a place where I can share my obsession with retro nostalgia culture with all the kindred spirits out there. My main goal is always the same: to capture that indescribable essence of nostalgia, creating images and soundscapes that feel both real and dreamlike.
Thanks for being here on this journey—it means more than you know. 🙏
