Cold climate gardeners tend to plant their whole garden after all danger of frost has passed and then clean out everything after the first fall frost. That is not necessary. There are many cold hardy crops that can be planted in early spring, or even planted in mid summer for a fall harvest. With careful planning, you can even get two crops from one bed in a single year. Look for my soon to be released video on Succession Planting in Zone 3.
Special thanks to the 500 subscribers who have had the patience as I slowly but steadily build my YouTube content while working a full-time job. I appreciate every thumbs-up, comment, and click of the notification bell by family, friends, and strangers alike who are interested in gardening in a short season.
It's snowing out this morning but spring is around the corner.
One of my biggest challenges at the moment is dealing with fungus gnats in my onions that I started about a month ago. I would like to eliminate them before starting my other cool-season seedlings, and for sure before I start my beloved heirloom tomatoes.
If you have any suggestions, please list them in the comments below.
I would also like to hear about your successes and challenges in a short-season garden.
Any suggestions you have for future video topics are also welcome.
