Many of the things we do to feel “okay” after stress—listening to music, cuddling pets, praying, dancing, talking to someone—are actually self-regulation strategies.

Science shows that our bodies are wired to seek balance through movement, connection, and sensory comfort. This is called nervous system regulation or emotion regulation. It’s how we move from fight-flight-freeze back to safety.

Over time, I learned that there’s no one “right” way to regulate. What matters is noticing which activities help your body relax, your mind slow down, and your heart feel safe again. That’s real healing work—practiced gently, one day at a time.

If you ever need someone to talk with as part of your own relational regulation, I offer two non-clinical, trauma-informed services:

💬 Talk Buddy / Companionship Support Session – for day-to-day stress, emotional check-ins, and social support.

🩵 Trauma-Informed Emotional Support Session – for those who’ve gone through emotional pain or trauma and need more delicate, understanding space.

These are non-therapeutic, peer-support sessions (not a substitute for psychotherapy or medical care).

Available through text, voice, or video chat.
