a few weeks ago i asked you if i should cover the betharram scandal that emerged in france on a side channel! instead i decided to briefly integrate it in this video :) the second channel project is still relevant though, i'm just figuring out what i what to do with it, more on that in a few months hopefully!!
Hey everyone! I want to hear from people who've developed an unhealthy relationship with food after they started going to the gym and adopting the lifestyle that goes with it. How did it impact your social life? Also open to experiences from people who've lived with someone who suffered from this and how it impacted your relationship with them. This doesn't come from a place of judgement, I've been there myself and it took me years to overcome this. This is part of a bigger video project :) thank you for your help!!
Hey guys! I just want you to be careful, a scammer is using my image to try to get money out of you. Please don't reply to those messages and don't add their number. If they reach out to you, pls report them, that would be super helpful :) Thank you to those of you who raised the issue!!
Bonjour! A pretty significant scandal involving our new Prime Minister, François Bayrou, broke out in France recently. The whole story is super gruesome, we're talking about dozens of cases of physical and sexual violence against minors in a prestigious catholic school. This is happening after our previous Prime Minister (Barnier) got kicked out by a no-confidence vote and this scandal should (technically, but you know how politics (especially French politics) work...) lead to the Prime Minister's resignation. Would you like me to do a little recap of what's happening? I was thinking this could be the opportunity to start a second channel where I do more reaction-to-the-news type of videos and keep this channel for more researched content. What do you think?
Yayyy! So stocked to see @PhilosophyTube came to the same conclusion as in my video 'in defense of 'wokism'' , quoting Wendy Brown's essay Moralism as Antipolitics (great essay!!)
Bonjour! I wanted to ask you guys what are your thoughts on how we should talk about Trump and Musk's trolling politics and the fatigue it creates. Purely reacting to what is going on and explaining why they are bad feels increasingly counter-productive as these guys use reaction, especially negative reaction, to stay relevant. I have some thoughts on this but I wanted to ask you how you feel about this
Hey everyone! I'm happy to finally share this one with you. I'm afraid the content of the video will limit its reach so i'd be super grateful if you could share it around you, to people who maybe haven't heard about this awful trial or people who want to learn more. It was definitely something i felt i needed to make so yeah, hope you like it!
This video has already not aged well or turned quite ironic, you decide!
No but seriously, regardless of what comes out of the recent developments on the Baldoni/Lively situation, I want to touch on something based on the comments I received after making this video. Despite making it very clear multiple times that people's attitudes and actions tend to reflect the society they live in, I received a lot of comments complaining that I hyperfixated on Garfield and used old quotes to cancel him (funnily enough I was expecting that sort of comments and addressed it in the video as well). In this video, I showed that Garfield is a product of 2000-2010s feminism which sought to draw more men to the cause by saying that men and women are victims of patriarchy, which is true. The problem is that some people at the time, including Garfield and many other guys, seem to have misconstrued what that means. Saying that patriarchy hurts men and women doesn't just mean that we're all puppets of the system, lacking agency, moving in the world determined by those norms, it means that we also participate in it, to various degrees. That's why it is crucial to keep people accountable, point a finger at serious flaws and encourage people to change for the better. I think conflict and corrections are fine, they are uncomfortable but necessary for progress. The fact that I use Baldoni as an example of someone who tries to do things right and the irony of what is happening now is yet another example of the point I make in this video.
System analysis is necessary but it can sometimes prevent us from assessing how we, as individuals, are also part of the problem, and how we can change for the better. There's nothing more frustrating than someone not practicing what they preach and I'm not going to pretend I'm perfect on this! I believe that accountability is healthy, that empathy and accountability are compatible, and that corrections are a sign of care. If your friends don't keep you accountable for the sh$t you say or do, I don't think they are real friends!! Honestly, I don't want to live in a world where any criticism is understood as a cancellation attempt, I understand everyone is a bit tense and the internet nurture a climate of unhealthy conflict but that shouldn't prevent us from having honest conversations about individuals as well as systems!
Anyway, new videos coming soon, I can't stop yapping lately!
