Movement isn’t separate from exercise.

When we label activities as "exercise," "workout," "active rest day," "mobility training," "functional fitness," "cardio," "strength training," "recovery session," "yoga," "stretching," or "sports practice,"
it can create the illusion that only structured movement counts as taking care of your body.

This mindset can make people feel like if they’re not following a specific routine, they aren’t being active enough. But in reality, movement in any form, whether it’s walking, playing with your kids, doing household chores, or dancing, is beneficial.

Language shapes our perception. While it’s fine to use these terms, we should remember that they all contribute to the same goal: keeping our bodies healthy and functional. The real aim isn’t just to “work out” but to avoid a sedentary lifestyle and integrate movement naturally into our daily lives.

More time isn't the answer. What you need is more discipline, time boundaries and perseverance.

Rise and sweat!

Stressed? Move your body
Tired? Move your body
Nervous? Move your body
Angry? Move your body
Sad? Move your body

Light cancels out darkness. Exercise improves any condition of the mind and body.

Confidence is like a muscle; we can’t see it, but it’s just as important as the ones in our body. It affects how we feel, think, and show up in the world. And just like any muscle, we have to work on it to make it stronger.

Confidence shows up in simple ways, like keeping the promises you make to yourself:

â—ŹShowing up for your workouts

â—ŹHolding the tough conversation you've been avoiding

â—ŹStanding up for yourself
....

You build confidence one challenge at a time.
Gather the evidence for who you say you are.

Forge forward🫶🏽

Walking is so easy, that people don’t believe it works for total body transformation.
It reminds me of how God gave 10 commandments, but the Israelites expanded them to 613!

Sometimes we overcomplicate things.

You don’t need a 12-step program, magic gummies, insane lifts, or endless workouts.

Just walk, lift moderate weight, eat real food, and stop when you’re full to maintain a healthy weight and body.

Keep it simple.

Good morning beautiful people! Before you set out for the day, pause and ask your self this: 'What small change can I make today to put myself first?'

Most of your workouts (about 80%)should be easy on your body, like gentle or low-impact exercises that you can stick with long-term. The other 20% can be more intense, where you push yourself harder and go faster.

This balance helps you stay consistent because your body can only handle so much strain before it starts to wear out.

Keeping most of your workouts manageable makes it easier to stay on track, while the occasional challenge helps you break through plateaus and keep seeing progress.

On the other hand, the "go hard or go home" approach isn’t realistic. If you push too much all the time, you’ll burn out, get injured, or lose motivation. A balanced approach not only gets you results but also makes it easier to keep going in the long run.

Wow, 90k views! I’m absolutely blown away! Creating content for @AfroGirlFitness over the past 10 years has been an incredible journey, and I’ve loved every single moment of it.

Looking back, taking a chance on myself all those years ago was a pivotal decision. What started as a determined (and slightly desperate!) housewife’s quest to get her groove back has blossomed into something far greater than I could have imagined. This journey has led to leaps in personal growth, newfound confidence, and a wealth of knowledge- on how to eat right, build a round, perky butt, and rediscovering the magic of the great outdoors.

I’m so grateful for every single one of you; those who’ve been here from the beginning and those who recently hopped on this winning women’s wellness bus. Thank you for sticking around and supporting this journey. Here’s to what lies ahead! 💪🏽❤️

10 Fitness Truths You Eventually Learn:

1. Consistency is king - showing up regularly is better than doing a lot once in a while.

2. You have more time than you think- you can fit in a workout every day if you make it a priority.

3. It's simple to lose weight, but that doesn’t make it easy- the steps are clear, but staying disciplined is the hard part.

4. Cardio is important along with weightlifting - a mix of both keeps you healthy and strong.

5. Sleep is essential for muscle growth– your body needs rest to build muscle, and there’s no shortcut.

6. It’s amazing how little time and effort it takes to get into good shape.

7. You can handle more than you think- sometimes you just have to push yourself and get it done.

8. You won’t always feel like working out - but even when you don’t feel like it, you should keep going.

9. It’s easier to avoid junk food than to burn it off - it’s much quicker to skip unhealthy snacks than to work off the calories.

10. Fasting helps your cravings diminish.
