I share gut friendly Japanese cooking ideas, techniques, and longevity wisdom inspired by my grandparents—104 and 95 years old, still living independently.
As a flexitarian following my grandparents’ traditions, many of the meal ideas on this channel feature fish and plant-forward dishes.
Japanese cuisine is naturally balanced, rich in fermentation, and highly adaptable for both vegan and non-vegan diets. That’s what makes it perfect for creating meals everyone can enjoy together at the same table.
This channel is for people who want to learn a healthier lifestyle the Japanese way—those looking for plant-forward meal ideas, or anyone who enjoys a flexitarian approach to eating like I do.

Konbanwa everyone! 🌸
Some people might feel a bit nervous to try Sakekasu because of the alcohol left from sake production. I understand. But don't worry—there is a simple way to enjoy it!
By steaming Sakekasu for about 10–20 minutes, the alcohol evaporates.
This makes it much easier to use in your daily meals.
In my latest video, I share a day of homemade cooking—all inspired by my 104 and 95-year-old grandparents!
You can also see how I make a Sakekasu Smoothie there.
If you’ve been interested in Sakekasu but were worried about the alcohol, please try steaming it first! I hope you enjoy the power of fermented food.

Konbanwa! New video coming tomorrow 👀
I recreated my 104 year-old grandpa’s workday lunch from his working days—and honestly, I had to learn it from my grandmother since I’d never made it myself.
It’s a simple meal, but very meaningful to me.
Hope you enjoy it—see you soon from Mana-chan.

I spent some really precious time with my grandparents.
And when it comes to cooking, I realized… there are still so many skills and recipes I can learn from them.
I thought I had learned almost everything—haha, I was wrong.
So now I’m working on a new post inspired by them.
Stay tuned!

I’ve been researching this topic, and honestly, some of the findings really surprised me. As someone with 104- and 95-year-old grandparents, I’ve always wanted to break down the myths around Japanese longevity and understand what truly contributes to it.
In tomorrow’s video, I’ll explain it clearly and simply. Hope you enjoy it!

Have you ever wondered if natto can be made at home?
I experimented several times, and I was surprised how easy it actually is.
The homemade version turned out ultra sticky, richer in umami, and even cheaper than store-bought natto.
If you're curious, I just shared the full step-by-step tutorial in my latest video:)
