In case you were wondering about Beta Reclamation or worried it got dropped - I've been putting together a lot of its modded UPKs recently. Part of it has been diving deeper into the multiplayer betas to find earlier textures for existing things like skies, buildings, and so on. The preview images for beta levels sometimes have far different sky designs, so I want to reflect that here.

An interesting discovery came up when working with chapter 7: the Insurgents' models are loaded into the exact section where they appear in the 2010 trailer. They aren't used, as far as I can tell, but they're present. Maybe they can be restored without causing conflicts with the later 33rd fights? We'll see.

Got some news to share on all fronts!

1. I haven't been able to fix 2010 beta Walker's animation issues. I'm thinking the best course of action will be to recreate/reapply his textures on his final model, since they aren't too far off.

2. I might have made a big discovery about SOTL's development that warrants a video in of itself.

3. Onirism is so good, holy crap. I know I'll end up doing something focusing on the game, but I'm not sure where to start. Janky-but-endearing AA fun will always outdo AAA spectacle, especially when it's made by passionate developers.

Two mod releases over the span of a few days? Am I mad?! Possibly! Both of these had been gradual buildups, anyway. I wanted to release what I had on tap before fully committing to the BIG project in the works. If you've been following my posts, you know what it is. ;)

Thanks again for your guys' support! Glad that people are so interested in mods for The Line.

Beta models are staying, but foregrips are going away. Things are moving along nicely with the mod. One more poll to sort things out.

Prerelease footage of Spec Ops has 2 versions of Chapter 7 around the same time frame. A gameplay trailer from 2010 showed Delta fighting the Insurgents there. E3 2010 showed Delta fighting the 33rd, just like in the final Chapter 7. I can’t do both or split the level makeup. How should I handle this?

Spec Ops: The Line - Beta Reclamation Mod is moving along well! I've been implementing the visual and stat changes, and I'm excited to see how it plays out. I'll be posting updates here as they come.

One thing I wanted to ask - I haven't been able to import beta weapon animations into the final game. The UMP-45, M32 MGL, and Vector all have foregrips in the beta but not in the final game. Should I just use their beta textures and not their models, or should I go all the way and use their beta models even if they clip?

Seems like it's clear that viewers want large-scale mods rather than small/reskin ones. I totally get it! Now, it's a matter of what sort of large-scale Spec Ops: The Line mod you guys would be interested in. Which of these concepts would you like to see most?

I've been on the fence as to how to handle the custom weapon mods for Spec Ops. I haven't had concrete plans for releasing them, but there has been an interest in it from viewers. Should I just do them to test out other UE3 models in Spec Ops and tease future large-scale mods, or should they be their own releases like the reskin mods? If so, how should I bundle them?

In case you were wondering whether anything came of that poll a few posts back...

As for the Spec Ops poll option, it's in consideration, but nothing has been done with it so far.

Thanks to a friend of mine who's done great work with XCOM 2 modding, I've learned how to combine and export the multiplayer bodies and heads from Spec Ops into a single object.

What does this mean? Well, a TON more options when it comes to creating squad and enemy redesigns. I'm working on a large HECU-themed campaign mini-mod right now. There are plenty of armies and irregular groups I could depict with the bodies and heads, including some more absurd ones I won't pass up.

I'll also be digging through my Steam library for any other UE3 games that I could use resources from. UPK Explorer really did wonders for the Spec Ops modding scene!

I'm just grateful you all are so interested in it. Thanks for all the support!
