Mark Messina, Martha Belury, David Goldman, and I reviewed virtually every major claim behind the seed oil hysteria in this NEW review!
SPOILER: the evidence doesn’t support the fear. The controversy is largely social media-driven, built on ecological correlations, mechanistic speculation, and flawed trials, while stronger data suggests seed oil consumption may lower risk of noncommunicable diseases, including CVD, particularly when replacing saturated fat. This topic is a case study in how weak evidence gets amplified in the social media landscape.
After our debate, ‪@AmanDuggal‬ posted a recap video in which he essentially repeated the arguments from the debate, which he had already conceded on. He also dishonestly recounted what he had previously said about me.
As such, I’ve commented and laid out a more accurate recounting, as well as an offer for round 2 of the debate. The ball is in his court.
If you’ve enjoyed my videos and want to support the work I’m doing, memberships are one way to do that. Members get a few small perks like early access to some videos, member-only polls and updates, and priority replies to comments.
The main goal, though, is simply to give people who want to support the channel a way to help. I appreciate everyone who watches, shares, and engages with the content, and memberships are just another way to be part of the community.
In this video, ‪@DoctorBoz‬ said she would like to debate me on nutrition. I have been trying to comment and take her up on that but my comments are not showing. I don’t know if she has pre-emptively hidden me from commenting or it’s a YouTube issue. That said, feel free to encourage her to follow through on this via commenting.
UPDATE: it was a YouTube issue and I am now able to comment. You can go and like/boost my comment.
My colleague, David Goldman, and I discuss the asymmetrical application of the "careful planning" caveat to plant-based diets, but not to most other dietary patterns, despite the positive health outcomes associated with plant-based diets.

Do plant-based eaters need to be concerned about getting enough protein?
I participated in ‪@forksoverknives‬’ latest debate episode, along with Dr. Neal Barnard, to address that question and more.
