she/they

Hi! I'm Dr Marcia (she/they). I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy, author of Movement for Every Body, child of Haitian immigrants, chronic illness warrior, powerlifting strongwoman, and certified yoga teacher.

All bodies, abilities, sizes, strengths, & genders are welcome here to learn all things physical therapy, yoga, mobility, & strength. You'll find 3-5 minute quick tutorials on yoga poses (of all kinds) and exercises as well as 5-25 minute follow along mobility flows and yoga flows.

I love offering different options for different bodies to explore, accessible variations, and tips to scale up or down moves in my videos. I love to move slowly with intention and mindfulness, I hope you love moving with me!

The rules are made up. when it comes to fitness, movement, and exercise it really isn’t that deep.

You don’t have to pick one thing. You don’t have to do anything for a certain amount of time. You don’t have to look a certain way.

You only have to get it done in a way that honors the body that’s showing up that day

Super casual reminder that I have follow along mobility flows and yoga practices that can serve whatever body shows up today.

Standing only, chair only, floor (or bed) only? Whatever you need today I got it! All my flows on YouTube are organized by position

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to be apolitical as a physical therapist (or yoga teacher) but I would say it’s a crappy move.

You can’t say you’re all for getting someone better while supporting systems that make everything worse.

You can't say you serve and support every one while ignoring the systems that are targeting specific populations...

Here's a great exercise to try if you've been focused on building strength in your glutes, hamstrings, and lower back!

Gentle reminder you can move as slow as you like without shame.
You choose your pace and what works for you.
You decide.

I don’t write this to be condescending but to encourage discernment, people on the Internet do not know you and can’t make general advice on the Internet that is specific to your individual needs.

You have to develop a system to figure it out for yourself.

For example, I get comments about my videos like these all the time…

will this help me with my back pain?
is this good for tight hips?
I’m hypermobile can I do this?
I simply don’t know because I don’t know you. I’m a physical therapist, but I’m not your physical therapist 🤷🏾‍♀️

This is yet another reason why I wrote my book movement for everybody. It can help you learn yourself and learn how to sharpen your discernment!

I think one of the many reasons my stuff doesn’t blow up like some other fitness, wellness, and health creators is that I don’t tell people that whatever I’m sharing is going to cure and fix them.

And I shan’t be changing that anytime soon.
