Research in trauma and attachment theory shows that anxiety can be a learned protective mechanism rather than a random malfunction. It’s often an adaptive response to navigating an emotionally insecure world.
When the mind and body learn to stay safe by being hyper-alert to threats, that adaptation can persist long after the original threat has passed. So, when something feels unsafe, the brain activates the same alarm system it would during real danger. And if that alarm keeps sounding, those anxious responses become deeply wired, turning anxiety into the body’s default state of alertness.
Because anxiety isn’t just mental but also bodily, your racing heart, tense muscles, or shallow breath are ways your body says, “I don’t feel safe yet.” That’s why simply thinking “I’m fine” doesn’t always work, the body needs to feel safe too.
To truly calm anxiety, both the mind and body need reassurance. Slow breathing, grounding, gentle movement, these signal to your nervous system that the threat has passed.
It’s not about eliminating anxiety, but helping your system learn that safety is possible again.
Rooting for you,
Nikitha ☘️

Not all vampires crave blood, some crave your energy. 🧛 These energy vampires leave you feeling emotionally drained after every interaction, whether they're constant complainers, manipulators, or negative thinkers.
Your best protection? Garlic made of boundaries and limited contact. 🧄
So... met a vampire lately? 👀

Why talk about what therapy is NOT?⁉️
Because unrealistic expectations about therapy creates:
• disappointment in self or therapist
• resentment towards the process
• impulsively stopping sessions altogether
• assuming ‘therapy doesn’t work’
Sometimes, it’s not therapy that fails but the weight of unrealistic expectations that hinders healing.
That’s why one of the first things I ask my new clients is "what is your understanding of therapy?" And orient them accordingly about what therapy is and is not. And the most common expectation I've heard in my practice is therapy to be an instant solution.
And I inform them that it's a process that takes time, patience, and honest effort from both sides, a commitment from them and me (therapist). This is also a relationship like any other, that requires trust to be built.
I've first handedly seen real change often taking place quietly, through awareness, reflection, and small consistent actions in my practice. Because in therapy, it’s not about what I (therapist) think is right for you,
or what society says you “should” do. It's about helping you find what feels right for you. And that’s where the real healing happens.
✨Therapy isn't about 'fixing you' - it's about finding you.✨
Rooting for you,
Nikitha☘️

Your senses are powerful tools for grounding, soothing, and reconnecting with the present moment.
When you're feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, or just out of sync, tuning into what you can see, hear, touch, smell, and taste can help bring you back to yourself.
This post is your gentle reminder that self-care doesn't have to be big or complicated. Sometimes, it's as simple as a warm blanket, a favourite scent, or listening to this cuties scrunching. Find what soothes you, as there is no size that fits all in self-care.✨
Rooting for you,
Nikitha ☘️

It's okay to overthink, to feel helpless, and/or to be stuck —these experiences are part of being human, and they aren’t wrong or negative. So, allow yourself to feel them without resistance. These questions are meant to help you move forward when you're ready or when you want to begin supporting yourself through a difficult situation. Think of it as a tool in your mental health kit, available whenever you need it. 🗃️
P.S: This exercise can be used when you find yourself problem focused.
Instructions:
🫂Take your time with each of these questions—it’s a process that requires practice.
🫂Start by asking, “What am I saying to myself right now?”
🫂Notice if you're asking, "Why me?" or having self-critical thoughts, blaming yourself/others for the problem.
🫂Observe how this way of thinking affects you. Once comfortable, move on to the next question.
🫂Take your time with each step, allowing yourself to practice at your own pace.
🎁You don’t need to go through all the questions at once or for the same issue. Gradually applying these questions according to your comfort is important to ensure you’re compassionate throughout the exercise.
Disclaimer: This post is intended to offer guidance, but it is not a substitute for professional therapy. If you find your problems overwhelming or your day-to-day functioning is being affected, please seek professional help or guidance. You don’t have to go through it alone—support is available.
