Documenting my life as I’m on a mission to help 10,000 people get lean, thrive and disease proof their bodies on plants by 2033 and 1 million by 2050 (Currently over 1,000+)
After losing my late partner to breast cancer, I embarked on this journey to help people get lean, thrive, and reduce their risk of chronic illnesses through whole food, plant-based eating, exercise, and being fit.
That is when I founded my company, Fit Vegan Coaching, on April 1st, 2020.
Monthly, we donate to cancer patients directly to support them on their healing journey, as I remember what it was like when I was only making $12,000/year working at a smoothie bar, trying to provide for my later partner with all the expensive cancer bills.
If you are subscribed to this channel, you are in for a beautiful ride. Thank you for your love and support.
Sincerely,

Follow up from yesterday’s post: The second thing that helps me reach my goals is that I set clear deadlines but detach myself from timelines for my goals.
Let me explain,
After having helped over 1,000 + people transform, you notice some common patterns and the second biggest one I see is that people are more attached to the timeline then they are to the actual goal.
Some people care more about not "doing this" for longer than X months then they are about being 30 lbs lighter. Which is completely crazy to me.
When I said above that I set clear deadlines but that I detach myself from timelines, here is what I mean:
I care more about whatever goal I am setting than how long it will take me to get there.
But I do set clear deadlines because it forces me to take a certain LEVEL of action to be able to get there.
I hope that make sense, some people say "I will lose weight when I lose weight, I'll just do it slowly over time". But never set a clear game plan in place to make that happen so they just end up getting heavier throughout the years and decade.
Setting a deadline of 4-8-12 months, as an example, forces you to have a plan in place to ACTUALLY make progress; it forces you to take a certain level of action to move towards your goal.
Now from there it's about taking the best actions possible for you to reach your goal with the understanding that it won't go perfectly and that life will happen (throw you a curve ball) and that's ok because it's all part of the learning process.
I personally believe that everything happens for a reason and so if you set yourself a goal and you actually are committed to it. All the challenges, life obstacles, ebbs and flows of life that come your way will be there to teach you exactly the right lessons you need to learn in order to reach your goal, and I also believe that they are there to test you to see if you really want your goal.
So for me when I decide to commit to something and things get in the way I get excited because I get to run through them. Almost like those scenes in the movie where the fighter gets punched in the face, and looks back up with a smile that says "Aw that's a cute punch , now let's get the real fight started".
Your beliefs will shape you and how you deal with hardship. It was a MUST for me to develop this belief system when I was going through the whole cancer journey with my late partner because otherwise, I would not have been able to show up as my best self.
And so it needs to become a MUST for you to get healthier and get fitter.
Many of you reading this who haven't taken the step to be in our program are still struggling to improve your body composition and get healthier on a whole food plant-based lifestyle and that is because you haven't fully committed to yourself yet.
By the way, the number one reason why most people fail in their transformation it's because they weren't truly committed to their goals. They were more committed to comfort and convenience. (I'll let that sink in with you).
I'm sharing this because many of you don't need to listen to more podcasts, watch more YouTube videos, or read more books. You just need to commit to yourself, set a clear deadline to force massive action, detach yourself from the timeline, and just go for it.
Take imperfect action, learn from it (Hire a coach to speed up that process) and care more about getting to the goal than you do about the journey.
Also keep in mind what else it will enhance in your life to be the Fit Vegan version of yourself. More energy, more stamina, more strength, reduction in your risk of dealing with chronic illnesses, kicking sarcopenia and osteoporosis's butt, more quality years with the people you love, more confidence and more enjoyment out of life ❤️

Every morning, I write in my notebook thoughts from the previous night and lessons from the previous day so that I can learn from my own actions.
I'm personally taking on some new challenges in my life with basketball and I find myself having some "fear of failure" in that area.
Now bare with me, this isn't a newsletter about basketball ahah, I will tie this whole lesson up to body recomposition beautifully at the end but read carefully as the lessons applies to any area of life you are trying to improve like health and body recomposition regardless of your age.
I was telling myself:
"What if I fail? What if it doesn't work out? I've made this goal public to over 34,000 people online!"
I'm human just like you, haha, BUT what I think allows me to always get to my goals is two things. One, I catch myself in that self-talk and I remind myself that there is no such thing as failure.
Only the fact that I took some action and that it produced an outcome, and if that outcome isn't what I wanted, then I need to course correct and change the action I am taking to try and produce the outcome I want and for me to keep repeating that pattern until I actually produce the outcome (results), I want.
I'll also give you a little hack I found to "limit" the amount of "imperfect action" I need to take to try and produce the right outcome I want, and this isn't to say that I won't mess up a bunch of time it simply means I'll mess up less.
My hack is to hire an expert in that field to bring down the amount of "incorrect" actions I need to take to produce the outcome I want.
That's precisely what I did for basketball when I committed to pursuing that goal. I hired a local coach to train me here once a week and an NBA trainer to train with me every two months (as it's pretty far from my house) so that I could learn from them, have them tell me exactly what I need to improve on, and have them build me a game plan around that.
I personally hate (and I know it's a big word) wasting time building a plan that I'm not sure will be the most efficient. I always hire an expert whenever I commit to a new goal.
That's the same thing I did at the beginning of the year when starting the process of writing my book. I texted all my friends who had written books and who were New York Times Best Sellers and paid them for one hour of their time to pass off their knowledge of the writing and publication process.
Stay tuned for tomorrows post to learn the 2 things I do to crush my goals 🌱 💪

I’ve had two themes for 2025: Focus and painting the back of the fence.
As we are a few weeks into Q2, I am reminded of how important it is to FOCUS. I also set that as my theme last year; it was a life-changing year for us in every area of our life.
I set it again as a theme because I noticed a common pattern amongst those don’t succeed…they get distracted, they get shiny object syndrome and they think they can do it all.
Some people say they want to be the strongest and the most muscular they’ve ever been while training to run a marathon (It ain’t going to happen). This is what creates mediocrity in a lot of people’s lives.
I’ve set ONE big goal for each area of my life (Relationship, Fitness, Business, Health, Financial) and I’m relentlessly focusing on those while actively catching myself when I find myself getting distracted.
I tell myself that I can reach that goal if I want too but only after I’ve reached my main goal and that has been serving me tremendously.
The other theme which comes from a Steve Jobs story (Painting the back of the fence), is from when he was a kid and his dad asked him to paint the fence in the backyard and Steve asked him if he should also paint the back of the fence since no one would ever see it because it was just a field behind them and his dad told him that he had too because he would know that the back was painted.
It is about doing your best work and going above and beyond. As some people will never know what you did or how hard you worked to create something but you will know. You will know that you gave it your all.
So that has been a big theme in our Fit Vegan company amongst myself and our employees to paint the back of the fence and to build a company that will endure the test of time.
Since my mission is to help 10,000 people get lean, thrive and disease-proof their bodies on plants by 2033 and 1 million by 2050. I need to continue to build a solid brand and foundation as we have been to ensure that we get to 2050 and successfully reach our goal.
I just felt like sharing these two themes with you because if they resonate with me and I deemed them important enough to make them to highlight for 2025 then there must me something valuable in it for somebody else that will be reading this.
I hope this helps, and if you want more insightful lessons like this, join my free weekly newsletter fit-vegan-coaching.kit.com/newsletter 🌱

My cup is full for the first time in a decade ❤️ This is a personal post for those of you who have followed my journey throughout my years as a caregiver to my late partner battling cancer.
Last week, I woke up one morning and felt it. I was overwhelmed with happiness, playfulness, and joyfulness, and tears started to come. I was back! That feeling that I had long been searching for was back.
You see back when I was 19-20 years old I left home to travel the world, hitchhike and live my best hippie life. I had a playful approach to life, I was a ball of happiness, seeking adventure and just joyfully going through life.
When I was 22, I met my late partner who was diagnosed with cancer, and it forced me to grow up quickly. From that point forward, I was by her side the whole way through before she unfortunately passed away when I was 27.
When she passed, I was dealing with grief and trying to make sense of life and how I was going to move forward with my life.
Plus, I was already running Fit Vegan coaching business at that point and had the responsibility of serving our clients and taking care of my team of employees.
I knew that the “spark” I had for life, the playfulness I had, had been gone for many years at that point and I was doubtful to ever get it back again. I had accepted that this experience had “hardened” me for life and that I would never have that same deep feeling for the playfulness of life.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying any of this negatively. I would go back and do it all over again, knowing the trauma I got out of it, and it made me the man I am today.
It’s now been over 4 years since she passed away, and I have been doing my internal work with the help of my incredible and supportive wife ❤️
And at the end of 2024 when I had my call with my life coach Colm, I set my goals for 2025 and he noticed how this time my goals were more “fun goals” compared to previous years which I didn’t think much of at the time.
But as the past three months have gone by I’ve found myself really having fun with the process of building Fit Vegan, of leveling up my relationship with Ivy and honestly something that played a big role was stepping back into playing basketball more seriously because it made me feel like when I was a child playing.
It feels like I’ve entered a whole new chapter of my life and I wanted to share it with you all because many of you have been following me for years and were around during these challenging times in my life.
I’m also sharing it because there might be some of you who went through hard times or are going through hard times, and you potentially don’t see a way out or fear that life won’t be the same after.
It won’t be, BUT you have the opportunity to chose to grow out of i,t and to be fair, I never thought I would go back to feeling like when I was 21 again, and I did. So, if it’s possible for me, after years of working on myself and time passing by because you can’t rush your healing.
Then trust that it will all work out because everything happens for a reason ❤️

I’m having fun with my fitness again ❤️ 🏀
For the longest time I had lost the “joy” out of working out and even for someone that has been working for the past 19 years this can happen.
I’ve shared about this before but when I started @fitvegancoaching I thought that I needed to look a certain way in order to be “credible”. I thought I needed to be super big and muscular like some of my vegan friends to “play the part” without ever accounting that my friends were 8 inches shorter than me which helps a lot to look bigger faster (I’m 6”4 for context).
Then I thought that I needed to be cutting all the time so that I could stay in the same mindset as my clients so that I could serve them the best that I could when I first started almost 5 years ago.
That obviously left me feeling miserable because I never factored in that I would get tired from being in a fat loss stage, and thankfully, I got out of that mindset because we’ve been doing this for 5 years now lol.
It took me a few years to find me place, but now that we have an incredible team of coaches and that clients no longer work with us because of what I look like but because of the value we provide and the 1,000 + people we’ve helped transform, I feel like I have been left free to do what I truly want.
So about 1.5 years ago I stepped back into playing basketball after not playing for 10 + years (I use to play on the college team). And it made me feel like a kid again like I was actually filling my internal cup.
For context, some of you already know that I was a caregiver to my late partner, who passed away from cancer and after 5 years of caregiving, my internal cup was empty and bone dry. I had nothing in me to pour into other people, and so went on this quest of figuring out how to fill my own cup.
I tried massages, meditation, reading, sitting on the beach, etc… and nothing worked.
It wasn’t until several years after when I played basketball that I felt that cup starting to fill.
This was my childhood dream to play pro basketball and to get to play again brought back that joy in me, that first love of embracing the journey towards reaching a goal.
I’ll also add that doing digital detoxes every 2 weeks for 9 days is the only other thing that helped me fill up my cup and is why I still do it to this day.
Getting back into basketball brought that joy of fitness back because it made me something to work towards in my fitness journey for the first time in a while. For a goal that I actually had fun pursuing, not because I needed to but because of the work that I do in the fitness space.
That’s why I committed to training for the next 115 days to go do a scouting event in Las Vegas this summer. Mind you this is just for fun and for the sake of getting better at basketball and for the love of the journey.
I don’t care what happens past the event, I just want to have fun get better, keep dunking on people, play physically and have a blast doing a sport that shaped my childhood ❤️
It’s given me motivation to train hard again, a purpose to my training sessions and it’s also filling my internal cup at the same time which has been feeling great.
I also know that I have maybe another 3-4 years of “good knees” before I can’t play at that level anymore since this is my time to have fun and give it a try.
I’m just sharing this with you all because some of you needed to hear this. You need to go for what you want and have fun doing it. You don’t need a six pack if you don’t want one. Don’t listen to what others around you tell you you should do, do it because you want to do it.
Have fun with life; you only get one shot ❤️

🌱 Life has been pretty darn cool since the start of the year, and I owe that to the systems I’ve put in place to accomplish the goals I’ve set for myself.
I’m always a bit doubtful about sharing these things on social media because it feels like I’m sharing a “highlight reel” of what’s going on, but the truth is that I’ve been crushing it overall.
Off course I have my down times, times where I go over my calories to have a late snack of popcorns or vegan ice cream when I’m trying to improve my body composition. Yes business can be stressful with having to hire, fire and manage employees as we are growing. Yes injuries occur when training for athletic sports (basketball).
But because I don’t focus on looking at each moment as a representation of how I am doing but instead I look at the overall progression then that is how I keep myself on track with my goals.
As long as the overall trend is going up (or down if you are doing fat loss) towards your goals then you are crushing it.
Too many people think that once they commit to reaching any goal wether it’s physical, athletic, financial, business, etc… that the path “should” be perfect.
It never will if you haven’t figured that out yet.
So if you have down days or down moments, who cares just don’t let those be longer than they have to be. Eat the ice cream, accept it and get back on track. Cry, let it out and get back at it.
There is nothing wrong with not being perfect but there is something wrong with letting it affect the ONLY thing that matters when it comes to reaching any goal you have, and that is to consistently show up (Notice I didn’t say perfectly show up because that’s impossible).
And to be frank if the journey was “perfect,” you wouldn’t learn anything.
The only reason you are who you are today is because of your failures and mistakes. Those have shaped you to be more driven, resilient disciplined, you’ve learnt multiple times how NOT to do something and that’s what helped you figure out how to do it better the next time around.
Think of parenting, think of starting a new job, think of starting a business, starting a new relationship, etc…
That’s all it was: you took imperfect action, you tweaked and tried better the next time.
If we are being honest, I’m still taking imperfect action and trying to figure things out.
The only reason people are ahead of you is that they took more imperfect actions than you and learned more lessons than you have and have implemented the lessons.
I’ll also throw out there that I also found a way to accelerate that learning curve by hiring someone that has done all the stupid mistakes and has learnt all the big lessons and that is where I want to be or that has helped a lot of people be where I want to be.
Wether you call it a coach, mentor, teacher, etc… I have several of those in my life for different areas because life is too short for me to make time costly mistakes that can be prevented through teaching and passing along information which is how we as the human race have progressed.
I felt like sharing that today because my heart told me so, so I hope it resonates with someone reading this ❤️
Have a blessed day

I used to be terrified of trying anything new because I hated the idea of failing. In high school and college, I wanted to be flawless on my very first attempt—whether it was a school project, a sport, or launching a new venture. I’d bury myself in research, convinced that if I just learned enough, I’d finally feel “ready.” But the more I studied, the more I realized how much there was to learn—and the more afraid I became of actually starting.
That fear—of not being good enough, of letting myself (and others) down—kept me stuck. I was my own worst enemy, creating a vicious cycle of perfectionism that made me sabotage my own growth. But everything changed once I decided, “What if I jump in before I’m ready?” I launched myself into new projects, messed up, tried again…and realized that’s exactly how you get good at something. You can’t skip the awkward, uncomfortable first steps.
Now, every time that annoying little voice in my head says, “You can’t do this yet—you’re not prepared,” I remind myself: I’m not the voice; I’m the one listening to it. And I get to choose whether to believe it or not. Sometimes I’m still scared. Sometimes my heart races at the thought of failing. But I take the leap anyway, because I’ve learned that taking messy, imperfect action leads to far more growth than waiting for the “perfect” moment.
If you’ve been putting something off—maybe starting your own health transformation, applying for a new job, or just picking up a hobby—know this: nobody starts as an expert. Your first attempts might be cringey, pixelated, or full of mistakes (I’ve been there!). But it’s in those stumbles that we learn the most. The sooner you begin, the sooner you’ll figure out what you’re truly capable of.
If this resonates at all, drop a like. Let’s own our fears, push past that little voice, and keep taking steps toward the life we deserve. I’m rooting for you every single time you show up, flaws and all. We’ve got this—together.
