We offer a unique physical education curriculum that integrates with the classroom curriculum. By integrating classroom themes with PE games, we accomplish several things. First, we have one of the most authentic PE programs in Montessori education because the PE lessons are derived directly from classroom lessons and materials. Second, the student's learning of classroom content is enhanced through the repetition of vocabulary as well as the unique mechanic of "learning through play," which could be even more beneficial for kinesthetic learners. Thirdly, the students don't see PE as just another play or recess time but as a legitimate co-curricular that allows delving deeper into classroom material, especially when we play indigenous sports to support culture studies. Finally, the through-line between our PE and sports programs is the understanding of sportsmanship, which is directly related to SEL competencies.
