Mitochondrial Eve (ME), the Mother of Humanity, is The Black Doll Affair’s human family heirloom and documentary series.
Founded in 2007 by Mama Doll, The Black Doll Affair (BDA) is a self-esteem movement healing the impact of historic doll tests, when Black children were taught to see white dolls as “good” and Black dolls as “bad.”
Our members, known as THE BLACK DOLLS, represent confidence, culture, and community. Many wear the official Be a Doll, Give a Doll T-shirt, where every shirt helps place a doll into the hands of a child.
Through storytelling, BDA celebrates our shared human origin.
