About our Doll: We’re telling one of the oldest and most powerful stories on Earth: Every human alive today comes from one African Mother, Mitochondrial Eve… and now there is a Black Doll to celebrate her.

Mitochondrial Eve (ME), the Mother of Humanity, is The Black Doll Affair’s (BDA) human family heirloom and documentary series.

Founded in 2007 by Mama Doll, BDA is a self-esteem movement working to heal the impact of historic doll tests, when Black children were taught to see white dolls as “good” and Black dolls as “bad.”

Through entertainment, education and storytelling, BDA celebrates Black lives, racial harmony and our shared human origin.
