I post random stuff whenever I want. Enjoy.

I'm Velepexon, I don't have much of an identity online, so you could know me in many ways depending on which community you find me in. I'm mostly a Splatoon Blender artist with like 15 other interests, so, don't expect 100% Splatoon Blender on this channel.

Velepexon

Y'know something? Kinda (KINDA) the reason why I don't got a lot of stuff going on on this channel is because I kinda only post the stuff I'm 100% comfortable in posting.

It's just since I'm pretty sure half of my current audience are Splatoon fans, I'm a bit anxious in uploading anything that's not Splatoon Blender. I mean, sometimes I post it anyway when I don't really care, but eh?

All of them just hide away in this playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7...

So, I've been thinking
Do y'all want me to stick to being Splatoon Blender only ocassional off-topic things if I feel like it
Or just be normal

I don't think I'd list back all of the unlisted videos, but, just thinking about what I'd do with this in the future.
'Cause like, I mean, after I'm done with the Splatoon Blender tutorials, that's it for my channel's purpose lmao, so I don't know what to do next after that.

Haven't said this here yet but chat
My perfectionism has kicked in again, and I do not like the already completed parts of the tutorial series

It's too fast, I hate my voice, I missed a few important parts, the editing is lazy, and it all sucks
I'm remaking the remaked remake

I was going to make a video about it, then I felt tired of the idea of editing it, so I'm gonna write a community post anyway.

I'm on a term break, so I'm free (besides family activities) until April 13th.
The issue is, I can't tell if there's just something in my head or I'm just suffering from burnout.

I have three things to work on during this break
- Splatoon Blender Tutorials
- Study Notes on Computer Science
- EPQ Project (2D Platformer Game)

And the worst thing is, I KNOW EXACTLY what to do for all three of these. I got the plans, I got the ideas, I just lack the initiative to continue. And I hate it so much.

I keep telling myself, I wanna get these tutorials done as soon as possible. Like, I really can set aside my education stuff for a bit and just dive straight into the tutorials. But maybe I'm not ready yet. I tried a few hours ago, and all I did was sit down staring at my script and the blender file for literally 20 minutes and then I gave up and played Spelling Bee on Roblox.

I'm completely washed up, but I have a suspicion that the reason I'm in this pit of hell is 'cause I spent most of this morning and afternoon dealing with janky virtual machine stuff. So, as long as nothing bad happens, theoretically, I should be able to work on the tutorials as fast as I possibly can.

Again, I KNOW what to do, I have everything planned out and ready to work, I just can't physically bring myself to actually start. Even trying to force myself it's literally sandpaper on my brain, it freaking sucks.

Anyway, I don't think I should vent this much on a Youtube community post, but that's- I just wanted to update y'all where I'm at right now.
I have plans for the channel, and the tutorials. I got the time. The remaining question is, am I able to even take the initiative

Just wanted to mention that I’m hella in the zone now. After 4 years I’ve finally made a Part 0 and Part 1 draft im happy with, so progress on the tutorials is finally moving forward

Just ‘cause, I’m sharing the whole uhh “syllabus” for the tutorial series, just so y’all know what’s gonna come up.

I ain’t stopping, let’s do this chat

Alright, guys, Blender 4.3's out and I'm STILL trying to work on the tutorials.

If I've not said it yet, there are a lot of things I'm still learning here, and I want to be careful with what information I put in the tutorials.

Over the past few months, someone discovered a better way to handle RFT, there's a different way to set up shoes, I found exceptions in my methods in Part 1, I found out Model's Resource has a few problems (some textures are compressed for some reason), I'm STILL learning colour grading and management it is so so hard, I was somewhat taught how the game deals with THC and TRM (but it is way too complicated to be tutorial-worthy, and I don't even have the full version of it!), there are probably several additional rules that I'm not aware of (For example, you know the S3 pants with tear marks? And it's supposed to show the skin color? Apparently, it's not just the skin color, it's skin color multiplied with another color...), I still don't know what the heck the RES textures do or mean, I don't know if I should use Copy Transforms with Local Space or a Child Of constraint, I still don't understand the Translucent BSDF shader because I can't make it look good like ever, I don't even have a good HLT setup or at least I don't think it's good, turns out you can skip steps of deleting geometry by simply making backfaces transparent, speaking of which, some models need a displace modifier because they have duplicated geometry with flipped normals to hide backfaces...

There's been a lot of development, to say the least, and it keeps delaying me because I have to first figure out if it's worth adding to the tutorial, and then finding out how to even say it in the tutorial.

I doubt I can finish it before the year ends. Sorry for keeping so many people waiting for this damn long.

Okay, so, small update on the tutorials

I recently discovered some details and stuff that I think would be REALLY important to add into the tutorials
I'm so glad I didn't finish these tutorials sooner

Y'know it's really demotivating when you think about it
That every time I sulk about not working on my tutorials, I find new information that would've made my tutorial outdated, and now I can include this new information in the tutorials
It's like
I'm scared about how much I could be missing, y'know
It's tricky

I accidentally left the tab and my post was missing

Okay, quick update

I'm gonna record the video in Blender 4.3, the tutorial itself shouldn't be affected significantly from this change, so I can still write the script based on 4.2 at the moment

But I'm still really hyped for Blender 4.3!

The script is pretty difficult, I'm trying to balance between clarity and time

I'm busy with a lot of schoolwork

And I'm busy with making renders and animation for ArylBarrel, video on his channel coming out at... some point!

Alright, I think I've stalled long enough.

I'm going to prioritise the remaking of the Splatoon Blender tutorial series, now with Blender 4.2 and with HELLA more stuff in it.

Here's what's been making me delay it for so long:
- I want a good asset drive that's easy for anyone to find their splatoon models. There is technically one, I think, but it's a little finicky 'cause it's hosted by someone, and there's been a few problems with downloading the models.
- Every time I think I have something clear, I end up finding an easier solution.
- There's been so many significant Blender updates that I didn't want to make the tutorials just for the next version to introduce something better. 3.x, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 has so far been absolutely amazing, and I bet 4.3 will be too.
- Some of the things I want to add into the series is also relatively new to me, and somewhat hard to learn. So trying to simplify it into a tutorial format, especially since most of the demographic for the tutorial series are complete beginners, is really really tough.
- The overall difficulty of making these tutorials not terrible is easily frustrating and demotivating. Even if it seems like I've not done anything, I have many cancelled and delete drafts throughout the past 4 years on literally the first part of the video, because nothing ever sounds right.
- When I finish the series, I need to avoid repeating the same mistake Roblox Blender tutorials did: Flooding and annoying the Blender community with newbies asking for help with their specific topic. I've seen some posts asking for help with Splatoon models, and while it's controlled for now, I'm anxious it can get worse.
- A major roadblock with progression is sometimes people treat tutorials strictly, and I want to communicate clearly that experimentation is normal and required for improving. I don't know if I can achieve this message even if I try hard enough.
- I feel a lot of problems within Splatoon Blender comes out from a combination of impatience and compromises. I have spent my own time trying to prevent these issues with the tutorials, but I'm scared that people will ignore my pleas anyway and will repeat the same mistakes (which honestly, I've done as well, so I can't really complain)

Anyway, that's enough venting. I think it's time I finally get started on this thing.
