Welcome! I’m Karina Aybar-Jacobs, LCSW, CPC—psychotherapist, coach, and breast cancer survivor with 18+ years of experience. My goal is to help you build self-worth from the inside out, set boundaries without guilt, heal from parentification, and recover from growing up in a dysfunctional family system.
Here, you’ll learn how trauma, attachment, and early roles shape your adulthood & relationships. I break down how you can heal these patterns, so you can understand why you feel the way you do and how to change it with compassion and practical healing tools.
I combine professional expertise with lessons from my own healing journey, because I believe growth feels safer when you’re guided by someone who’s been there, too.

Thank you for 500+ subscribers!🎉
500+ of you are here… and I’m genuinely so grateful.
I want to take a moment to say thank you for being part of this space and for choosing to subscribe, listen, comment, and share. It truly means more than you know.
I didn’t always post consistently on YouTube. Making the decision to be intentional about showing up here at the beginning of this year required me to stretch myself in ways that felt uncomfortable and, at times, scary.
Putting myself out there has meant letting go of perfection, being seen in a more honest and vulnerable way, and trusting that perfectly imperfect is more than enough.
This journey hasn’t been about going viral or monetizing, etc. My intention has always been simple and deeply personal: if something I share; my story, my reflections, or the tools I offer can help even one person feel less alone, more understood, or a little more grounded in themselves, then I’ve already succeeded.
So thank you for being here. Thank you for your openness, and your presence. This community reminds me why I started and why I’ll keep showing up one video, and one conversation at a time.
I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you. 💙

A personal invitation to join us for the premiere of Growing Up Too Soon, because some of us were never meant to carry what we did.
This past May, we hosted the in-person premiere of my story, Growing Up Too Soon, in collaboration with wonderful sisters in the struggle, and partners; I wasn’t sure what to expect, but what unfolded was nothing short of transformational.
Audience members cried, hugged, and opened up in ways I’ll never forget. I’ll always carry the words they shared after the screening:
🖤 “I finally felt seen.”
🖤 “I didn’t know how much I was still carrying until this video put words to it.”
🖤 “I wish my younger self could’ve heard this.”
That’s why I’m so excited (and a little nervous) to now share it with you.
This Tuesday, November 11th, Growing Up Too Soon premieres online on YouTube; a 10-minute video, but it holds decades of silence.
It touches on parentification, childhood sexual abuse, and the invisible emotional labor so many of us were forced to normalize.
And it shows what healing can look like, when we finally choose to come home to ourselves.
This is the most vulnerable thing I’ve ever made.
I’ll be watching it live with you at the premiere; on the evening of my birthday, and also the anniversary of my 4-year cancer remission.
🔄 A full-circle moment I’m sharing with you: Tuesday, 11/11/25, at 8 PM EST on YouTube/@KarinaAybar.
I hope you can join live in the comments, and please share it with someone who may need this. 💙

Dear YouTube family,
Due to the sudden passing of a very close family member, I will not be going live this week and possibly next. I’m deeply saddened and in disbelief, and I need to practice what I often encourage others to do: empowered vulnerability and self-acceptance.
In time, I’ll share what this painful moment represents for me as I navigate the loss of another father figure.
Thank you for your understanding and compassion. I look forward to reconnecting with you soon. 🙏🏽💙

Join me live tonight!
If you’ve ever turned to food for comfort and then felt trapped in a spiral of shame, you are not alone. For many survivors of dysfunctional families and Complex PTSD (CPTSD), food became the most reliable source of safety when people weren’t.
Food never yelled. Food never abandoned. Food was always there when comfort, love, or protection wasn’t.
That’s why emotional eating, binge eating, restricting, or food “addiction” are so common for trauma survivors.
In this week’s Compassionate Weekly Accountability Meeting, we will explore :
Why trauma and food soothing are so deeply connected
👉🏽 How shame, not food, is the real wound we need to heal
👉🏽 Inner child practices to understand what your cravings are really asking for
👉🏽Gentle, practical ways to expand your “soothing menu” without restriction or judgment

🚨Few Tickets Left
Meet our amazing MC! Claudia Mendoza, Founder, Mami Chulas Social Club @chulaincharge
🧠In Commemoration of Mental Health Awareness Month:
Join us for a heartfelt evening of reflection, connection, and healing.
In collaboration with the @mamichulasocialclub Mami Chula Social Club, @ndwc_org The National Dominican Women's Caucus, and the @bridesmarch Brides March: Gladys Ricart Survivors' Network against Domestic & Intimate Partner Violence.
Together, we’ll witness Growing Up Too Soon— A powerful and intimate event that tells the trauma and healing story of licensed psychotherapist and coach, Karina Aybar-Jacobs, LCSW, CPC, founder of the Self-Worth Hub®(www.karinaaybar.com)
Growing Up Too Soon offers a raw and relatable look at how early roles manifest later in life through anxious and avoidant attachment, people-pleasing, overgiving, and hyper-independence.
Growing Up Too Soon is a story of reclamation—of what healing can look like when we begin to untangle from generational patterns, confront the wounds we’ve carried for too long, and learn to come home to ourselves.
If you’ve ever felt like you were asked to grow up before you were ready, this story is for you.
** This gathering is for any woman who was asked to be “the strong one” far too early. Through story-telling, guided reflection, and community support, we’ll begin to explore how to gently lay down those roles and reconnect with the parts of ourselves that were left behind.

I was going through my old messages and found this beautiful note from a Self-Worth Hub member and it stopped me in my tracks.
I had completely forgotten to share it when it first came in, but reading it again filled me with so much pride and gratitude. Sometimes, in the busyness of holding space for others, we forget to pause and receive the love reflected back to us.
This is why I do what I do.
To every member who’s ever shown up vulnerably, listened deeply, and contributed to the magic of our conversations—thank you. You are the heart of this community.
Even if it’s a little late, I just had to share this.
