Salvador, Bahia: Considered by many as the “most African city in the world outside of the African continent”, with around 80% of its population being of African descent. This heritage has influenced the city’s culture, and especially their music: a unique scene in which Rafa was born, bred, and lives in. Salvador’s music has always been internationally recognized through their heavy percussions: be it from their carnival culture (the biggest in the world), grammy award winning artists such as Carlinhos Brown, or from collaborations by the likes of Olodum with Michael Jackson and Paul Simon.
As founder + producer of the group ÀTTØØXXÁ, RDD created a bridge between Salvador’s musical heritage and heavy percussions with urban music production and songwriting. as a result, the group has won brasil over with +100 million plays across all platforms, as well as hosting one of the country’s coolest carnival floats alongside international superstars Major Lazer.
