🐝 Worked on wasps, bees, even them mean little fire ants — Southern yard ain't exactly friendly, y'all.
Turns out nicotine's got them anti-inflammatory properties the doctors like to talk about. Grandpa didn't know none of that — he just knew it worked, and that was good enough.


Tobacco paid the bills, fed the family, and fixed your stings. That plant earned every damn inch of Southern soil it ever grew on.

Turns out catfish have sensory organs called ampullae that detect barometric pressure changes hours before humans feel anything.


Science finally caught up with grandpa. Took 'em long enough.

🎣 Did you know Southern folks used to "charm" catfish outta holes with soap or blood? 🐟🧼🩸

They call it noodlin’, grabblin’, or just plain stupid dependin’ who you ask, but back in the day, some went deeper:

🧼 Irish Spring or lye soap dropped in holes would sometimes irritate catfish just enough to make ‘em swim out, right into your arms.
🩸 Others used cow blood or rotten meat to draw ‘em close, stinkin’ bait for big payback.
🤲 And the brave (or crazy) ones? Just dove in and hoped they weren’t grabbin’ a snapping turtle instead.

Still practiced by some today, but rarely talked about, a dirty, gritty, Southern fish tale passed hand to mouth.
