A student of the psyche. ... Working on a new series of video essays, the first one is coming late 2025.

Lagover

I am wrapping up the year by also wrapping up my "Reflections on Stories" playlist.

What comes next?

A new, in-depth series about 8 stories. The difference with this series is that I have planned which stories I will look at already ahead of time, and I will give myself no deadline to finish the videos.
Each video is only limited by the next video in the series, and will be worked on once the previous one is uploaded. (What will happen with the last one? No idea lol)

This past year has been great for me to learn what it means to create videos consistently and finish projects, but now, instead of most of my workflow being a result of quick touch-ups and including only the bare bone aspects necessary, I will try to perfect each video in all of its dimensions.

I had consciously been aiming at this goal for the past 7 years, and unconsciously probably since the day I started YouTube 14 years ago.

I will most likely make a video outlining the plan and also set up ways to support my goals, support which I hope to gain by doing the best I can.

2025 is the year, finally! Thanks for watching, liking, commenting and subscribing.

Hello, my next vid will be about "The Tatami Galaxy", including "The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl" and "The Tatami Time Machine Blues".

I could finish up my Journey vid sooner than expected, but once again I can only say the new vid will come out in a few weeks (at least 3).
Edit: This video is taking longer to finish up than expected, my content is shifting and I am planning for the next year. I'll release this one before the end of the year though.

I only just finished watching the anime today after watching it long ago, I feel it will be a complicated one to untangle lol, hope it will be interesting! It's more meaningful than I remember.

Hello, my next video will be about the game "Journey", coming out in a few weeks.

I know I said my last project will come "late October", but I decided to upload it right as a finished it, in order to be more flexible. As a result my updates are less consistent though. I also learned that my projects from now on require more flexibility in how long I work on them, so that's why I say it will come in "a few weeks". It shouldn't be longer than a month lol

I'm glad to see people are liking my previous video, because I hadn't gone so in-depth into anything before. There is a lot more on the way, it just takes time!

Funny that I'm making a vid on going into the desert, considering how my previous video ended, it wasn't intentional xD

Still, is it really a journey through the desert, does it really give expression to the journey of individuation? Well, I'll try to figure that out and more with this coming video.

Hello, my next project will be about "The Man Who Sleeps" (Un homme qui dort), a French movie from 1974.

It will be more philosophical than usual, this movie is a first step into the deeper themes I want to cover.
It will release late October. I took longer than I thought I would on my previous project, and also realized that I want to change my approach and take more time with my videos, I think it will improve their quality.

Hello. I skipped making a video on anime for my past four videos to even out the types of media I cover, but it's back, with No Game No Life! Season 1 and the movie, coming in three weeks.

26th September 2024 EDIT: The video got blocked world wide for copyright, for some reason it only flagged it after being up for 5 days. I'll figure something out to maybe have it back up mid October.

I took a one week "break" for the first time this year, that's why it's taking three weeks. Peak summer was a good time for it. I was immersed into projects the entire time this year, and this week was useful to gain a bit more oversight with my plans in general.

Hello, I decided it would be a good time for my first community post.

First, I wanna thank everyone for their engagement and comments, I'm really happy to see how thoughtful and appreciative the comment section is.
Some of you might be wondering why I don't reply to the comments, and I will explain why.
I think I will leave the comments to people who simply want to take part in the community, and separate individual interactions through other channels of communication.
I thought about this deeply, and concluded that blurring the line on these two is not a good idea, especially as time goes on.
So, as it stands, I will continue to just read the comments, I do read all of them.
If you would like to get in touch, or have any questions, I have entered an email on my channel you can access. Other ways are my social media.
I welcome anyone to do so. I can't promise I will respond to all messages, but it will be the main way I will interact with you on an individual basis.

When it comes to my plans with this channel, there is a lot more on the way.
I've decided to categorize my videos now as "reflections" instead of "video essays", because that's a much more fitting description. A video essay, I started to think, is when you abstract from the media a new context in which you discuss the media in, which currently, is something I don't really do. I largely stay within the story and meaning of the media itself.
I will continue to focus on these reflections, but in the distant future, will start working on more in depth videos, which will be longer and more time intensive to make.
I also have a Twitch and YouTube Live channel linked, but I have no plans in making use of these this year.
Right now, my goal is to cast a wide net and have a big library of all kinds of media I reflect upon available to you and to myself. These videos serve my curiosity to explore and understand storytelling in more detail, and I love sharing what I experience.

I am very happy with the good reception and to have gathered an audience of 34 new subscribers. As you can see, I have a very old video on this channel, I have been planning on making something I like on here for a long time.
I am excited going forward!
