This week on Walking with Tamson we take a wee trip to Tullibole Castle for a Warlock and Witches talk about the Necromancer of old Fossoway.
In 1662 eleven or more people were condemned and executed by under the witchcraft laws of the time. This meant they were strangled then the bodies burnt in the local village of Crook of Devon.
Lord Moncrieff, the current owner of the castle, commissioned a maze to commemorate the dead in 2012 and it now stands as a Monument to those who suffered. The Scottish government has recently made apologies for those that were executed and the country has begun remembering those who suffered such terrible fates.
The talk discuses some of the people on trial and the situations they found themselves in. From land grabs to infant death via dead bodies being dug up and used in Necromancy, the stories will surprise and shock...
Please join us this weekend for part one of three as Rhoderick takes us on a tour of the grounds and the stories of the area
For our next wee donder we visit one of Scotlands most significant cultural locations. Situated just ower the hill frae Clackmannanshire, Dunfermline Abbey bides next to the famous PittenCrieff Park.
The Abbey here has a history of over 1200 years and is where Scotlands first King and the subsequent 16 Monarch are buried. Destroyed in 1560 during the Scottish reformation the Abbey was left to ruin. During this time the Abbey was subjected to its first Protestant cleansing in 1599 then sacked in 1590. Today Sunday service is still held inside.
There is much to see and learn as we visit the ancient origins of Scotlands rulers. Come and see first hand the final resting place where our hero's reside
Last week we visited Perth City Centre and ended out by the river Tay. St Matthew's Church faces onto the river with fantastic views of the Queens Bridge.
Celebrating it's 150th anniversary in 2021 the church was originally an amalgamation of four free churches way back when. The free Church emerged in Scotland from the Great Disruption when the church tried to impose a particular minister rather than allowing individual congregations to decided themselves. Around this time many ministers left to start their own ministries which became the free church.
The recent refurbishment has transformed the building into a modern usable space. During the week there is an art gallery and some amazing fused glass displays available for purchase. At the weekend the church hosts it's traditional religious ceremonies for the members of the congregation. It's a far cry from the image of the draughty and dowdy church of old and creates a modern usable space for all to come and see.
Come join us as we explore St Matthew's in episode 83 😃 🙏
This week we head back to Lochore Meadows Country Park to check out all the Ford's 😃
Modern and old all come together in front of the Mary 2 mine works to show the great and good of the Ford range. The park is usually filled with kayakers and busy hosting triathlons and the like but today is ⛽ head day.
We get to see some fine examples from the 80's Escort Cabriolet, Focus RS and a stunning example of the classic XR2 Fiesta. The cars are a labour of love for the owners and look fantastic. With so much to see we take in a few of our favourites
Come join us in episode 82 tae see whit we kin see 👀 💜
