Jinku
Jinku is a Stockholm-based Kenyan alternative electronic producer and DJ, who has been at the forefront of the NuNairobi movement. He is most well known as a founding member of the music collective East African Wave (EA WAVE), which came onto the scene in 2015.
Jinku's style is a fusion of today's contemporary music underpinned by strong African percussion. He aims to inspire African producers to be bold and fearless in translating their stories to the world.
Jinku has remixed for well-known music acts such as Branko, Daniel Haaksman, Frank Yamma, Mabiisi, Makadem and Ami Faku.
Jinku has released music through respected labels such as Enchufada, Man Recordings, On The Corner Records, Banana Hill and Lump Records. His records have received support from Worldwide FM, Boiler Room, DJ Mag and The NATIVEmag.
In 2022 he curated a music pack for XLR8R+ showcasing the sounds of his city as well as a podcast. Ableton named him the city's Rising star.
