Hey! It's been a while, right? I know I haven't posted in so long but I just wanted to let you know I'm fine.
After my last video in January, I went through a difficult moment in my life as I moved out from the place where I was living with my friends. We never spoke again, we were friends since high school (8 years).
But after that, I graduated! I finished my master thesis (about domestic violence in kdramas) and got my master with mention!
Right after that, I worked for two months in my hometown : I was starting at six in the morning so I was really tired and couldn't even watch kdramas.
In September, I told myself I should go back to editing and I tried, but I just couldn't find the inspo. And at the end of September, I came to Seoul, where I am right now. I went to Kyoto and Osaka with my sis and we went to Jeju again! I'm leaving South Korea in December and I have to find a job back home.
I hope I'll find the strength to go back to editing. I'm missing it honestly, it was something I always liked doing and I'm afraid I'm getting tired of it. All I know is I don't think I'll be able to edit as I edited before; doing series of videos, with a lot of research and that takes a lot of time. I think I've lost somehow interest in kdramas (I still like it but not how I use to) or I've lost the patience. There are still a lot things I want to say, to show, and I think editing will always be a way for me to express my feelings so I hope I'll be able to continue this art.
I just wanted to let you know I'm fine and I hope you all are too. I'm sorry for being absent for so long, I hope we can meet again with a new video one day. Thank you for everything, see you!

I need your help with my video about the normalization of body shaming and beauty standards in kdramas!
I already have a list but it's not enough and I'm struggling to find more scenes (because sometimes they are so normalized that you forget them).
I'm looking for scenes where comments about weight, beauty etc are normalized. Also the fact that being on an extreme diet is considered normal (+ sponsors for pills) or quite simply the idea that "a certain type of body and face = beauty" (skiny but not too much, "beautiful" but without aesthetic chiurgy and without effort...).
Here is an interesting video about eating disorder, weight and dieting representation in k-dramas. Let me know what you think about it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGQFI...
Here is my list for the dramas that normalize toxic standards :
- True beauty
- All of us are dead
- The man inside me
- 200 pounds beauty
- The miracle
- She was pretty
- My Id is gangnam beauty
- King the land
- My Roomate is a Gumiho
- Abyss
- Birth of a beauty
- Oh my venus
- Weightlifting Fairy
- Queen of the Ring
- Boys over flowers
- The Glory ? (ep?)
- Celebrity ? (ep?)
- Hometown chachacha ?
- Be melodramatic (ep?)
- Duty after school ? (ep?)
- The Angel's last mission ? (ep?)
- Twinkling watermelon ? (ep 7)
- Age of youth ? (ep?)
Kdramas that don't normalize them :
- Tomorrow
- Blueming
- Shadow beauty
- Mask girl

A large majority of you have chosen a video about body shaming and beauty priviledge as the next video.
To clarify, I think beauty priviledge should be the subject of a separate video. And as for the "body shaming" part, I'm more interested in criticizing beauty standards (especially Korean ones, which are particularly strict about weight).
It would be nice if we could do what we did before and if you could recommend series that have disturbed you. I already have a few examples of series that, in my opinion, are open to criticism:
- True beauty: a central issue in the story, yet I find that the question of beauty standards is insufficiently addressed. The main character is sad and harassed, not because of dangerous beauty standards and people's deep-seated adherence to them, but because she isn't "beautiful". The idea that the main character's life problem lies in something greater than herself (beauty standards, excessive aestheticization of everything, including bodies) isn't even addressed.
- All of us are dead: Woojin and Joonyeong's comments on Dae-su's body.
- The man inside me : do I have to explain why all those "glow up" dramas are somehow toxic?
- 200 pounds beauty
- The miracle
- She was pretty
- My Id is gangnam beauty : not sure about this one, what do you think? There's just one scene where the main girl's best friend tells her that if she has to choose, she should choose to match beauty standards, and that's not a point that gets criticized.
- King the land: there's an ep where the air hostesses have to weigh themselves and 50 kilos is apparently too much for 1m70. I'm not sure about that one either, I can't remember if that point was really criticized.
- My Roomate is a Gumiho: the main character pulls in her belly when the main male character touches her "fat belly", whereas the actress is literally 47 kilos. Not sure about that one either, I've just seen people annoyed by the scene.
- Abyss : the female lead??
If you have any series (and episodes) in mind where some comments bugged you, please let me know in the comments.
There's a very common thing in dramas to imply that a certain weight is too big, and often this weight not to exceed in women is very low.
There's a drama (I don't remember which one) where the main character weighs herself and she's like 100 pounds and it's implied that it's too much. It's not even a central question of the drama nor a point that is re-addressed, we leave it like that, a sign that this is the kind of thing that is supposed to be understood implicitly and without being questioned.
If you can think of other examples, not necessarily related to weight (I just find it one of the most present and obvious), let me know! We're here to chat :)
Thank you!!

My videos don't get as much views as before and I know I'm at fault there : I'm not as much active as I used to be. I don't make videos about "serious" subjects anymore (I make a lot of BL AU, crossover and FMV).
So I was wondering if you wanted me to go back to videos that are more "educative"? I already have some projects (it's been a long time) so let me know what interests you!
