I have given up on trying to beat Malenia in Elden Ring, she is just too difficult after the first phase. The good news though, my geology professor recommended my paper on wind energy to appear in an "undergraduate research journal" which sounds pretty cool and might open opportunities in the future.

I'm not really smart enough to say anything insightful about the election results. What I will say is that it is very sad that Harris lost, because she was the last line of defense against Trump's hateful policies and ideas, as well as Project 2025. Hopefully we as people, at least those of us who are still anywhere on the left, can prevent the U.S. from becoming an outright fascist state, which is what many people have predicted the U.S. could become now that Trump has won this particular election. A lot of us have rightfully talked about how inhumane Trump's immigration policies are and how Biden also extended those same policies, but I actually think the worst case scenario is if a law gets passed preventing anyone from leaving the country instead of just preventing people outside Europe, Canada, etc. from entering it. If things get terrible enough, people should at least have the right to emigrate somewhere else.

The only thing I find truly surprising about all of this is that Trump actually won the popular vote, by a sizeable margin as well. I never expected hate to win against love, but perhaps that is just a piece of human nature we have been trying to hide from ourselves. Maybe our own innate hatred can only be tempered by the logical understanding that we should all be treated equitably, an understanding that has faltered during this time. All I have left to say is, hopefully I manage to attend a few protests instead of just going through my daily routine of classes and staying in my dorm room. If the left is outnumbered now, it needs to speak louder than ever in order to remind people of the ideals the majority of our population once believed in.
