Northern Irish singer, Lisa Dawson, has always had a love for traditional songs from her Celtic heritage. Based in picturesque Islandmagee NI, Lisa draws inspiration from the beautiful rural landscapes that surround her, and by blending classical and traditional styles together, Lisa creates peaceful music that is reminiscent of artists like Enya, Sinead O’Connor and Loreena McKennitt.

As a classically trained singer, Lisa has performed from a young age in many vocal ensembles, and in many venues throughout the world including The Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms and Carnegie Hall, New York. Lisa's extensive background in choral singing has allowed her to develop a strong sense of musicianship and clear vocal technique which lends itself to many styles.

‪@Nave_Composer‬ has re-uploaded this collaboration we did a few years ago. It sounds amazing! Go check out his channel if you like orchestral, dreamy music that tells a story

Hey! So apparently YouTube has made a new feature where you can all post here on this community section of my channel?? I’m not really sure how it works but we’ll give it a try!
I’ve just shared the first Christmas carol in our musical advent calendar for this year! So let me know - what is your favourite traditional Christmas carol?

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to tell you my dearest kitty Marilyn passed away yesterday. I am heartbroken.

I got Marilyn the same day I met my husband. Just a few weeks after leaving high school, not knowing what my future was going to be, I had no university plans, no career plans.

Marilyn has been by my side through it all. She came with me to university, she was my only friend in my loneliest days. She was with me and Jack when we moved in together (even though my landlord didn’t allow pets!) and when we bought our house together and when we got married.

She was always there to greet me at the bottom of the stairs when I came home. She loved to say hello to my students as they came for their lessons, and sometimes she would stay in the room and listen.
She was always right beside me when I practiced piano, and cheered me on with her meows when I finished a piece.

She was there on my worst days. But I could cuddle her, and she would purr and look into my eyes and I instantly felt better.

I’m so glad that she forcefully inserted herself into my videos because I now have these to look back on to remember her by and hear her little meows.

I never took a second with her for granted, I cherished every hug, kiss and cuddle, and took every opportunity I could to tell her how loved she was. And I know she loved me too.

Fare thee weel, thou first and fairest!
Fare thee weel, thou best and dearest!
Thine be ilka joy and treasure,
Peace. enjoyment, love, and pleasure!
Ae fond kiss, and then we sever;
Ae fareweel, alas, forever!
Deep in heart-wrung tears I’ll pledge thee,
Warring sighs and groans I’ll wage thee!

It’s been too long, I know! But I do have a new song coming this weekend - I’ve set music to the poem ‘The Irishman’ by James Orr, just in time for St Patrick’s Day weekend ☘️

February in Northern Ireland 🌱 it’s nice looking back on these snapshots I’ve taken throughout the month how dull and grey it was at the start of the month, but little bits of light and colour are creeping through. The gorse bush being in bloom and the frogspawn I found today are clear signs that spring has sprung!

A storm hit Northern Ireland this weekend so I couldn't do my livestream as the electricity was likely to go off, and I couldn't even record any music because it has been so noisy with the wind! So seemed like a good time to share one of the lyric videos I've been meaning to make...! A Burns song for Burns Night, Sláinthe Mhath!

Join me tomorrow evening (Saturday 8pm UK) for a carol sing-a-long!
I’m trying to schedule the livestream, but it won’t let me… but I’ll be there! (If it works!)
