How would you feel if Diego actually died in the first Ice Age film?
Fun fact: Diego was originally suppose to die in the first Ice Age film.
However, the film makers decided to change the ending (due to test screenings causing children to burst into tears) with Diego reuniting with Manny and Sid at the end, recovered from his injuries from Soto.

How do you feel about Scrat returning to the Ice Age franchise for the upcoming sixth sequel by Disney known as “Ice Age: Boiling Point”?
Not only Scrat, but even his adopted son; Baby Scrat is also going to appear in the sixth film in 2027.
Lots of context if some of you don’t know: When I say return, Disney made a spin off movie for Ice Age known as “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild”, which only appeared in Disney Plus.
However, Scrat is ACTUALLY not in the spin off film, because Disney lost the rights to the character in 2020 due to a legal battle with artist Ivy Silberstein.
Although the rights were later resolved and a Scrat-focused series was released, the change in production studios and budgetary limitations also led to Scrat's absence from Buck Wild.
As for the series known as Scrat Tales, which focuses on Scrat trying to get his acorn while he has to look after a baby saber-toothed squirrel named “Baby Scrat” in six different short episodes.
