Giving Tuesday is now live, and today, you can make a difference for Fishan the survivor 🐘💚
Giving Tuesday, hosted through GlobalGiving, is a global day of generosity, and this year, we’re dedicating it to one extraordinary elephant who is in need of help.
Fishan’s journey has not been an easy one. In 2018, he stepped into a deep hole and fractured the Ulna bone in his front left leg. It was a serious injury that required two major procedures and months of healing. He worked his way back to the herd with incredible strength, but the injury left him with a permanent limp and long-term challenges that still require daily care.
Over the years, the injury has also caused a pressure sore on the elbow of his injured leg, as it’s the side he leans on when getting up. The wound needs daily cleaning with Chlorhexidine and Colloidal Silver to prevent infection, along with supplements and anti-inflammatory support to manage stiffness and pain.
Lately, however, Fishan has been struggling. His old injury has been causing significant pain, and he has been walking much slower behind the herd, resting more often in the bush and showing clear signs of discomfort.
This Giving Tuesday, we’re raising funds for an essential X-ray of Fishan’s old fracture to understand what has changed and how we can give him the relief he needs. It’s the crucial next step in helping him continue to live comfortably within the herd he loves.
Your support today helps cover this diagnostic care, his ongoing wound treatment and the specialised support he depends on. With your kindness, Fishan can continue to enjoy his days in the African bushveld; slower now, but still deeply present, still deeply loved.
Thank you for helping him take his next steps forward 💚
Enjoy 15% off selected items and know that whether you’re treating yourself or finding the perfect something for someone dear, your purchase reaches far beyond the shop.
Each order supports the care of the Jabulani herd, from daily feed and essential care to hands-on wellbeing.
A beautiful way to give, receive, and make a difference all at once 🐘
From far away, elephants seem almost hairless, but up close, you’ll find clever features like these fine bristles around the ear opening. They work as a natural shield, keeping dust and insects from slipping into the ear canal. With all the foraging, mud baths and dust clouds that come with elephant life, these little hairs help protect one of their most sensitive and important senses 🐘🌿
Nine years ago today, little Timisa was rescued, and thanks to that brave moment, she has grown into a vibrant 10-year-old this year! 🐘
Timisa was rescued as a fragile 18-month-old calf, wandering alone after her mother likely passed due to a severe drought. Timisa, meaning “Courageous,” faced an uncertain start, including a critical blood transfusion early on, but with love, care and the support of the Jabulani herd, she grew strong and confident.
From the heartwarming welcome by Fishan and adoptive mother Tokwe, to the playful bonds she shares now with Pisa, Kumbura and little Khanyisa, Timisa has blossomed into a joyful, spirited young elephant. Her journey reminds us why every rescue matters and how love changes lives.
Happy 10th birthday, Timisa 💚 Your courage, curiosity, and big-hearted nature inspire us all.
