Sociological historian from the traditional conflict perspective. When i'm not deeply pondering society, history, and natural sciences, i'm probably driving down a country road, reading a book on the beach, or loligagging around Gettysburg. Sippin' bourbon along the way. And working. Yeah. That, too.

Beer is good. And people are crazy.

i love how local Gettysburg businesses support each other! Btw - if you're still stuck on today's trivia question - Chamberlain doesn't have a single monument in his likeness - just a couple markers to the 20th Maine πŸ˜‰

One commanding officer in Gettysburg NMP has not one, but TWO monuments in his likeness, AND a large marker. Who is it?

Right now at ABC, the "Hog Wild" pulled pork sandwich. Terrific. Juicy. Not to be high maintenance, but be sure to ask for a small ramekin of slaw, extra BBQ sauce, and a wet-nap! πŸ˜‹

Know what the definition of insanity is? Constantly checking tomorrow's crappy weather forecast and hoping it will magically make a profound change for the better πŸ˜† 🌧

Not to belabor the point, but war and even peacetime military expenditures are very, very expensive. For example, the cost of ONE drone-fired, rinky-dinky, Hellfire missile is between $70-213K. For ONE small missile. War isn't the only reason, but a quite significant reason why we're in so much debt right now. The Who's want their money back. This, after we fought a 13-year war in the eastern hemisphere on their behalf. So much for gratitude. Back to the main point, i'm sure many of you recall the issue of debt repayment after the Revolution and the War of 1812. The Civil War was no different. 9/11 was no different. The ONLY war which SEEMED to boost the economy was WWII, but it's just a popular misconception. Northern migration, booming cities, and the nascent suburban boom (freeways, affordable cars, and single family home construction) deserve much more of the credit. Iow, population explosion, a.k.a. the "baby boom". THAT was the cause behind the surge. Not war.

This, as usual, is an unpopular opinion.

But i know my data and i know it well.

FYI, notions such as "it's us against them", "you gotta pick a side", etc., are but simple slogans of mind control. It's called a false dichotomy, look it up. Those who entertain such oversimplifications and red hearings are mush-minded and easily manipulated simpletons.

Gettysburg at 4am. Long exposure. See the planet up there? Probably Venus, maybe Mercury. Speaking of 4am, that's when i'm in at work tomorrow 😩! So, goodnight, good folks!
