William Piotrowski began composing at the age of 15 when he and renowned gothic, fantasy artist Joseph Vargo formed the orchestral group, Nox Arcana. The duo's haunting themes and gothic soundscapes garnered them international success and a dedicated fan base. Nox Arcana's music has become a staple in the haunted attraction industry with performances at Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Six Flags, and Knott's Berry Farm. Additionally, their music has been heard on the Travel Channel' Haunted America and Fox's So You Think You Can Dance. Their 2005 album Winter's Knight spent 3 weeks on the Billboard chart for Best Holiday Album.
In 2013, Piotrowski released his premiere solo album, the original score to Crimson Winter inspired by the works of György Ligeti and Wojciech Kilar. Reel Music ranked the album as the second best score in the fantasy / sci-fi / horror category and nominated the track "The Lion Rises" for Best Individual Cue of 2013.
