Since 2011 a proud promoter of Retro Electronic music. Artists like HOME-, Dance With The Dead, Timecop1983, Droid Bishop and more have their origins on this page. LuigiDonatello supported musical and visual artists and the revived 80's / early 90's lifestyle.

After 2014, this channel only worked with PERMISSION from the musicians AND the visual artists! To showcase their work and improve their visibility. Terms and conditions were determined in the corresponding email signatures. Artists agreed to let their work be promoted by said channel.

At the end of 2021, after ten years, the channel closed all submissions and no video has been posted ever since. Synthwave, as a genre, has succeesed in bringing back the 80s sound to (mainstream) music.

Hello, some of you have asked me to "come back" over the years. But for this I have no more interest. I noticed I wasn't enjoying posting 'videos' that much anymore to to this administrative task of taking somebody else's music, somebody else's graphic work and melt it together. I never asked payment from musicians, there is a donation button but I never based my judgment on it. I tried, after a few years, to arrange a mutual agreement with every musician to keep the YouTube ad revenue money (which is maybe a few euros a video if succesful) but those agreements were quickly broken by the manager agent or musician through YouTube claims. So juridically, I have had no footing. I did spend a LOT of time wading through thousands of emails, opening .zip packets with so many files and then listening to the material, selecting and the videos... not as much effort as making music by far, but still. Because of this, I now have a medical condition where I can wear my headphones for maybe 15 minutes before I get excruciating pain behind the ear drums. Another aspect is the fact I always tried to balance quality, quantity, being fair to artists and having tentalising visuals and to my frustration I was almost immediatly surpassed by newer channels. I am a competitive guy and like to be succesful. I also have experienced some incidents with the Synthwave community (mostly artists) that made me think about why I would want to belong to that "community". There was toxic behaviour, identity theft, much egocentrism and threats of hacking. And to top it all off, YouTube as a platform only benefits true creators and their algoritm is simply not humanity's best friend. They have decided channels like mine recycle existing content so they stopped adrev to all these channels. So to put it to conclusion, I have dozens of reasons to stop this old hobby and focus on other things in life. I still enjoy blogging on Tumblr and posting on Instagram so you can always find me there. I really enjoyed the years I've spent supporting starting musicians, I'm really proud of their accomplishments over the years. I regularly listen to the songs myself cause they're quite fun. You now hear and see so much 80's ingredients in modern music, ads, films and photography and that was my goal!
