저는 스물 몇 년째 여름을 지나는 것이 아직도 어색합니다. 사실 매일매일이 머쓱하기 짝이없어 눈알을 굴리고, 머리를 긁적입니다. 내 이름이 ‘황소윤’인 것도 요상하고, 이런 육신으로 저런 세상을 산다는 것도, 눈을 뜨고 방문을 나서면 꼭 매일 제자리인 것 같아서 매일 다른 날씨를 구경하는 것이, 하늘의 구름이 어떤 모양과 색으로 지나가는지 관찰하는 것이, 해가 어떤 냄새로 땅을 비추는지 맡아보는 것이 나름 매일 아침, 방문을 열며 맞이하는 모험심입니다.
새소년의 새로운 음악 **Remember!**의 가사에서 가장 좋아하는 구절은 “비를 쏟아내는 구름 아래 선명해지는 것들” 인데요, 앨범을 만들던 수해 동안 마음속에서 내리던 비가 많았기 때문입니다. 고달픈 것이냐고요? 전혀요. 비는 너무나 분명합니다. 분명하게 땅을 적시고, 먼지를 씻기고, 감정을 쏟아냅니다. 얇은 우비만 입고, 몸을 두드리는 비와 함께 또각또각 걸으면, 잠시간 선명하게 모든 감각을 새로이 느낄 수가 있습니다. 그 재생된 감각을 절대 잊지 않기를. 비가 땅에 부딪히지 않고 내 몸 위로 착지할 때 느끼던 그 분명함을 기억합니다.
여전히 매일매일 새로 태어나듯 어색하지만, 그것만은 늘 제 온몸에 새겨집니다. 그래서 드디어 올해 여름은 한결 좀 낫습니다. 비처럼 선명히, 해야할 것을 알고 있기 때문입니다. 무얼 잃지않아야 할지를요!

I still find it strange to be going through my twenty somethingth summer. Honestly, every single day feels awkward I end up rolling my eyes, scratching my head. Even the fact that my name is Hwang Soyoon feels odd. Living in this body in that kind of world feels surreal. Every time I open my eyes and step out the door, it’s as if I’m right back where I started. So watching the weather shift, observing the shape and color of passing clouds, smelling how the sunlight lands on the earth these have become small acts of adventure that greet me each morning as I open my door.
My favorite line from SSN’s new song “Remember!” is “the things that become clearer under a cloud that pours rain.” That’s because, throughout the years spent making this album, there was a lot of rain falling inside me. Was it painful? Not at all. Rain is clarity. It soaks the earth with certainty, washes away dust, and lets emotions pour freely. When I walk through the rain with nothing but a thin raincoat, the drops tapping against my skin, for a brief moment, I can feel everything with sharpness and clarity. I never want to forget that sensation the distinctness I felt when the rain didn’t fall to the ground but landed right on me. I remember it.
I know what I must hold onto, and what I must not lose. I’m filled with joy to finally be able to share that story with you. Wishing you an unforgettable summer.
