Sad to hear another of the great character actors has passed away. He always brought some gravitas to the films he appeared in. R.I.P. Terence Stamp.

Got to visit the monasteries of Meteora today. The Monestry of the Holy Trinity you can see in this photo was used for the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only. Incredible place! #meteora #greece #jamesbond

Very tough but rewarding 17m hike today for charity. It encompassed 3 challenging peaks in hot conditions and most of us completed the full route even with some discomfort, aches and pains. #hike #charity #yorkshire

Absolutely shocked to hear Val Kilmer has passed away due to pneumonia. He'd been battling throat cancer in recent years which was devastating to his career. But with a compelling autobiographical documentary called Val and a cameo in the excellent Top Gun: Maverick he had reappeared onto our screens, albeit short lived.
For me there is one film where his performance blew me away and that was with his portrayal as the ailing Doc Holliday in the western Tombstone. It was an astonishing performance which I always felt deserved much more recognition by the film industry, in my eyes fully deserving a best supporting actor Oscar nomination, if not winning the whole bloody thing in my opinion. But alas no nomination came.
Appearing in other great films such as True Romance, Top Gun, Willow, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, TopSecret, The Doors, Déjà Vu and the undoubted Micheal Mann masterpiece Heat, Val Kilmer will leave his legacy to masses of cinephiles and will forever be remembered as a great character actor who had a reputation for being a little problematic on set, but yeah, he'll always be my Huckleberry.
R.I.P. Val Kilmer.

Richard Chamberlain always seemed to be on my TV when I was growing up. Whether it was my mum watching The Thorn Birds or us all watching Shogun together he always seemed to be there. I used to own the Alan Quatermain films on VHS too, inferior Indiana Jones rip offs but fun all the same.
He always added some acting grace to whatever he appeared in but it's Shogun, The Towering Inferno and The Count of Monte Cristo that I will always remember him for.
R.I.P. Richard Chamberlain.

I absolutely love this dark satirical British comedy from Ben Wheatley. It's my favourite film of his so I often revisit Sightseers on a regular basis.
It probably helps that I recognise many of the locations along the way as I live quite close by to most of the sites they visit.
Steve Oram and Alice Lowe brilliantly play the unhinged Chris and impressionable Tina, who set out on their twisted odyssey of love. Visiting the touristy sights of Northern England, such as the Crich tramway museum and the Derwent pencil museum, Chris's social annoyances start coming to the fore and it's not too long before dead bodies are left in their wake. It's these annoyances that make Sightseers all the more relatable. From jobs worth's to litter louts, we have all had to deal with these stains on society.
The horror is both graphic and funny in a way that the British can only do. British humour is a genre of it's own, quirky and nuisanced which some people might not fully get to grasp with. But I love it.
All I'll say is 'if the caravan's rockin', don't come a-knockin'.
