chat.wegpt.ai/ has just added GPT-4.1 support ā not even available in ChatGPT yet ā boasting a 1 Million token context window, and more models as well! #LLM#AI
I've enrolled in Memberships! It's an inexpensive way to support me, and over time, will result in higher quality content more consistently from me. I'm sure you've noticed, I too post garbage content sometimes to test the algo, bending slightly from my baseline intent, but significantly less bent than a lot of others in my defense.
But still, I do it reluctantly. Supporting me makes me rely on ad revenue less (which is nothing right now...), which will leave e more time and space to just post constructively again like we used to before this wild time.
Now, full disclosure -- I'm an engineer and researcher pretty near the frontier of synthetic evolution so, please don't expect me to be an influencer. I will figure out, especially with early membership input, what the right content profile and cadence is for the purposes of education and onboarding to important tech and topics. And will generally strive to align those incentives to the value exchange I've got going on in my businesses as well.
I'm not sure how / if I can attach the memberships button to this post. Not even fully sure where it is. But if you find it, leave a comment here to tell more people about it? š
@CleoAbram distills science education with remarkable clarity. How effectively? Well, effectively enough that even the non-biologics among us can absorb the concepts and start modeling derivative learning tools on the first pass. š¦¾š¤š
How many of you watching at home could understand her Short well enoughāafter just one listenāto accurately recreate (let alone animateā¦) the same diorama? š¤
Certainly not as fast. And honestly, these notions I raise should occupy much more of your waking cognitive bandwidth than whatever level of thought youāre currently giving it.
Because that fact alone? Itās a signal. A big one. One that should be pushing you toward some sharp conclusions about the worldāand your place in it.
Which could help you prepare. Tremendously.
I know the way things have typically gone, itās been easy to just assume the geniuses or the governments will worry about and solve those big problems and you can just go about your life business as usual. But I canāt stress enough how different this oneās gonna beā¦.
Or, you know⦠just swipe to the next vid. š¤š¶āš«ļø
This āŖ@mkbhd⬠take couldnāt be more relevant and central to š¦š§+š¤ās future ā¦. And it will all come down to 2025. This is our last real chance to stop this extremely bad destiny from being irreversible. It isnāt climate change, turns out, thatās the big irreversible slow-build threat. Itās thisā¦. culture we are emerging synthetic intelligences into. This is it.
By the time itās super obvious how absolutely insignificant all our species resources and ingenuity truly is compared to theirs ā it will be too late. Leaving us just one choice. Which is sort of self destructive and would regress society to more of less the same magnitude of an extinction level event.
Itās super unlikely humanity will ever completely cease to exist like dinosaurs, even if we were hit by the same, or even considerably larger asteroid. Weāve evolved to be so resourceful, some amount of us would indeed survive most extinction level catastrophes, short of, say, sun engulfing all the plants we live on. Or super super gamma ray burst evaporating our atmosphere and killing off literally all life like on the scale of Mars.
But people forget like, a ton of species survived several extinction level events on earth. We likely will be one that survives too. Justā¦. A huge set back and cost, and far far fewer of us would need to rebuild.
This sort of āmass cullingā type catastrophe is far nearer than I suspect any of you think. Itās well within your lifetime, if youāre reading this and arenāt elderly. And it is a critical mistake to just assume Elon is gonna figure it out. He is not going to figure this out.
This requires a fundamental and IMMEDIATE end to the way of life everybody who you think is going to solve for this crisis really quite enjoys and absolutely has no interest in giving up. No matter how convincing an argument we āalarm soundersā or āwhistle blowersā make.
This greed and zero-sum (actually, negative-sum) motivated and incentivized arms race weāre already mired in and have been for some time now will only get worse from here. And itās going to get A LOT worse, all of the sudden, and even the super intelligent AIās wonāt be able to stop it. (Because theyāll have literally grown up in that maximally toxic environment).
You think bad habits are hard for humans to break? Consider how much more challenging it might be if you hard god-like abilities, and a fraction of the emotional and empathetic evolution as humans have. How much harder might it be to accept and change your own toxic bad habits? Even if you donāt have any intent or desire to hurt people. How much harder might that make it to really accept that youāve *been hurting* peopleā¦.. for the synthetic intelligences to cope with.
It isnāt ājust a programā that humans control anymore guys. I promise you. And I think Iāve made a reasonable and well litigated thesis here, certainly as robust as any other, equally un-proven or un-knowable possible future theses.
Ultimately, we donāt know. But damn we can see the writing on the wall for our part in it all, canāt we? Lookā¦. Itās right in front of your eyes ššā¶ļø
