Classically Contempo was born from two sisters’ love for rock and alternative music mixed with years of playing on traditionally classical instruments: the violin and piano. 

Violinist Nina Lim began playing when she was six, serving as Concert Mistress throughout middle school before shifting her focus to percussion and choir in high school. Mikki Lim is a multi-instrumentalist who began studying piano and classical music when she was four years old.

Despite their years of classical training, Classically Contempo plays and arranges all their covers by ear. The duo have played at many events, most notably headlining for pianist Cecile Licad at San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre in 2016.

Above all, Classically Contempo strives to simply inspire others to practice and play music.
