From the Archives: A Recovered Masterpiece 🕯️
Many of you have asked about the companion piece to my Liszt Ballade No. 2 recording. Today, I’m finally 'bringing it home' to this channel.
I have just recovered and re-released my 2018 live performance of Liszt’s "Funérailles" from the archives. While the Ballade explores myth and sea-storms, Funérailles is rooted in a much darker reality—the 1849 Hungarian Revolution. 🇭🇺
It is a monumental outcry of grief and defiance, featuring some of the most physically demanding 'cavalry charge' octaves Liszt ever wrote. I’ve included the score overlay in this version to help you follow the incredible architectural depth of this work as it unfolds.
