I hope everybody is having a great, but humid Sunday so far.
Today marks 5 years since a derecho storm has slammed into the Midwest.
On this day, in 2020, a derecho storm formed across the east and it slammed thru the Midwest portion of the United States. In addition, the event was very powerful to the fact that many tornado watches had to be issued.
The following rating from the damage goes as follows:
- 1 EF1 tornado, Wakarusa Indiana. lasted for 5 minutes from 6:32 P.M. to 6:37 P.M. with no injuries nor fatalities.
- 2 EF0 tornadoes, one located in North Webster and another located in Burket Indiana
- 1 EF0 tornado located in southwest side of Rockford in Winnebago county Illinois.
- 1 EF1 tornado located between Rockford and Caledonia, IL.
- 1 EF0 tornado located in Kirkland, IL
- 1 EF1 tornado located in Ottawa, IL
- The 5th tornado was located in Southeast portion of Marengo. Same rating as Ottawa and Tornado 6 in Elburn.
- EF1 was rated for the tornado between Yorkville and South Plainfield.
While the rest were between the range of EF1 and EF0, many severe thunderstorms continued to push further east.
4 deaths were reported from the whole incident while there was many injuries.
